Monday Afternoon Cigar

A Rocky Patel Edge smoldered as we cracked open our latest book, Journey into the Whirlwind by Eugenia Ginzburg.

This, and her second book, have been sitting on my bookshelf for years.  A shame I put this off, as it is another GREAT read on Stalin's Terror of the 1930's.  I'm still early in it, but I'd put Ginzburg on the same level as Solzhennitsyn for her ability to share a most depressing story in a light and digestible manner.

Two other books we read this past week:

Breeds, by Keith C. Blackmore.  Blackmore is my latest favorite author.  I've recommended his zombie books before, and this horror book rocks.  A great storyteller with a rich set of characters in every book.  A short read - you can knock this one out in a day.

Dear Reader: The Unauthorized Autobiography of Kim Jung Il, by Michael Malice.  I've added this to my library list at the left and am currently typing up my Book Notes.  I'll post a link to my review and notes here shortly.
