Quote of the Day UPDATED and BUMPED

[org post 10.24.12 6:23am]

The late author Ayn Rand, author of our favorite book Atlas Shrugged, had some opinions of the Libertarian Party.  Here is the first of many:

Question: What do you think of the Libertarian movement?

Ayn Rand:

All kinds of people today call themselves “libertarians,” especially something calling itself the New Right, which consists of hippies, except that they’re anarchists instead of collectivists. But of course, anarchists are collectivists. Capitalism is the one system that requires absolute objective law, yet they want to combine capitalism and anarchism. That is worse than anything the New Left has proposed. It’s a mockery of philosophy and ideology. They sling slogans and try to ride on two bandwagons. They want to be hippies, but don’t want to preach collectivism, because those jobs are already taken. But anarchism is a logical outgrowth of the anti-intellectual side of collectivism. I could deal with a Marxist with a greater chance of reaching some kind of understanding, and with much greater respect. The anarchist is the scum of the intellectual world of the left, which has given them up. So the right picks up another leftist discard. That’s the Libertarian movement.

There are always a few Paulbots at the Tea Party gatherings carrying "Who's John Galt?" signs and mumbling "end the fed" to anyone who will listen.  We wonder if they know her thoughts.

Our friendly message to our Facebook friends today:

A favor please.

Please de-friend us if you are a Paulbot, supporter of Gary Johnson, or whoever is the libertarian du jour.

We can handle four years of a Massachusetts Republican, or even four more years of a Communist-Inspired Chicago Democrat.  But we'd like to go the next four years without hearing how the two parties are the same, the wonderful benefits of legalizing marijuana, or how we are all Libertarians at heart.

Thank you for teaching us the term "Fiat Money."  We love the idea of returning to a gold standard, and 'ending the fed'.  But since you're essentially sitting this election out by voting Libertarian, your opinion no longer holds any value with us.

Our epic post on Ron Paul from last year.

UPDATED 12:30pm:

We and Ms. Rand may have exhausted ourselves wasting time on Libertarians, but Bill Whittle still has some energy:

UPDATED 10.27 12:30pm:

We tripped across the FB page for the Libertarian Party of Ohio.

A whole 3,108 people are following this page when they aren't smoking dope.

We shared a few of their images with our FB Comrades:
