Infrastructure Enhancements - UPDATED and BUMPED

[orig post 1.25.13 11:30am]

It may not look like anybody is working here....  but we are heavily investing in infrastructure enhancements to the Ushanka Blog site as part of our second Five Year Plan.

This is for the greater good.

However, it may look - at times - really really bad.

Which reminds us of our dear leader's words, "I didn't say it was going to be easy."

We are upgrading our site's design template at Google Blogger, and this may turn into a hit-and-miss solution.  Or as kids say these days, "A hot mess."

In the meantime, thank you for your patience, Comrades.  Utopia is just around the corner!

UPDATED and BUMPED 1.31.13 10am:

Our stimulated infrastructure upgrade is now complete.

You'll notice that older posts with quotes will be a bit unsightly as we've reformatted the way we present quotes.  Like this one from the original Karl:
Workers of the World, Unite!
You'll also notice a wider layout that allows for larger text and larger images/videos.  This will help those waiting 18 months for an eye appointment and prescription reading glasses - a feature of our dear leader's healthcare plan.

We will continue to fine-tune the Ushanka experience.  All for the greater good!

Schiff on Inflation

Peter Schiff was recently interviewed by Doug Casey.

As part of our mission to be able to say "I told you so," this is one of those posts that we'll point to someday in the future.

Is your standard of living worth 26 minutes?

4:00:
I think that one of the biggest casualties, other than individual liberty, is going to be the value of Dollar.  And people have to recognize that the Dollar is going to lose a lot of value.

Because how does the government plan on financing all of its expenditures?

Because they are not going to raise taxes on middle class Americans.  No party wants to be the party that officially raises taxes.  They are willing to raise taxes on rich, which doesn't take a lot of political courage, cause if you're taxing 1% that is 1% of the vote.

But I think we're already bleeding the rich enough.  In fact I think these tax hikes on the rich are going to be counter-productive in that they might produce less tax revenue.  Not only from the rich, but from the people that the rich don't employ.  Or the businesses they don't start.  Because they are discouraged from doing so by the tax code.  Or they focus their efforts abroad rather than here in the US.  Or they start looking for tax shelters, you know, ways to reduce their income as opposed to ways to grow their income.  That could backfire.

But I think a lot of this is going to be financed by the central bank.  Inflation is the tax they are going to levy.  And its going to hit everybody.  But you can avoid it.
23:25:
As an investor you want to look at the world the way its going to be.  You want to anticipate the future.  Because then you can kind of anticipate the re-evaluation of assets.  You want to buy something when its cheap and not a lot of people own it, so that you can sell it when it is expensive and everyone wants it.  You have to anticipate how things are going to change.  And what I think the biggest change that is coming in the global economy is going to be a realignment of living standards in the global pecking order.

America has been on the top for a long time.  And for a while, we deserved it.  We were the wealthiest people on Earth because we were the freest people.  We had limited government, and because government was small we created a lot and produced a lot.  And we exported our products all over the world.  And we had huge surpluses that we invested around the world.  And we were wealthy people because we deserved it.  That is not America today.

Today, America's standard of living is a result of debt.  We are no longer freer than a lot of other people.  We have more regulations.  We have higher taxes.  We don't have surpluses.  We have enormous deficits.  We are the world's largest debtor.  We owe more money than all the other countries combined.  We have a trade deficit with every country we trade with.  We are hemorrhaging red ink.  We've lived this phony standard of living based on the perception that we're good for our debts.  Which we're not.  We borrowed way more money that we can realistically repay.  In fact, Congress has even said this to our creditors.  We say every time if we don't raise the debt limit we're going to default.  Which means we can't pay our bills.  We can only borrow money because we can't pay.  But that means the bills get bigger and bigger and bigger.

I think we're going to have a collapse in the dollar, and that is going to dramatically reduce the standard of living of Americans.
We touch on some of these concepts in our recent article on Inflation at The American Thinker.

Quote of the Day

Comrade, Author, Blogger and Hat Owner, Aaron Clarey, was interviewed at the Washington Post about his latest book, Enjoy the Decline.  From that interview, our quote of the day:

I can't read Paul Krugman and Barack Obama's minds – if any exist – but I believe they will opt to go the inflationary route to solve the country's debt problems. If they went the wealth-confiscation route, that would mean nationalizing people's IRAs, 401(k)s and brokerage accounts much like they did in Argentina and Bulgaria. I fear however, because of their political ideology they have no problems doing both.

Article: The Original Green Movement

Our latest article is published at InfoWars.com.

It is a story of an armed insurgency in early Soviet Russia, with lessons
and parallels to today's gun debate.

Article Goals:

Guns are the difference between freedom and slavery.

We have the benefit of history.  The Tambov peasants did not.

War fatigue will kill a counter-revolutionary movement.

Aleksandr Antonov is a name we should all know.

UPDATED 2.6.13:

Whoops.

In our rush to get our article out to the masses, we didn't catch a gross error.  We referenced several books and authors at the beginning of the article.  Instead of naming Robert Conquest, we - or hopefully our spell check - typed Robert Conrad.

The photo above is Robert Conrad.  He played in a childhood favorite of ours in the TV show, Wild Wild West.  No doubt he hated commies then as much as we do now, and hopefully no offense taken by the esteemed author, Robert Conquest.

Ohio Has Leadership

We moved to Ohio from California in 2008.  Actually, we fled California and made our home in Ohio.

Ohio has its challenges, and while we are impressed with leaders here and their enthusiasm at fixing problems, the state has a long way to go.

We don't usually comment on local politics, but Gov. Kasich's review of all the changes he's made and is making is worth the few minutes. He isn't one of the politicians who uses Crisis as a Means.

From WSJ Video:

Ohio is lucky to have this man, and his team, working on our best interests.

Do you think you'll ever see an interview like this with President Obama?

Mort Sahl

We've recently discovered Mort Sahl, a wonderful political comedian.  We can't find his discussion of the Khrushchev visit to the US on YouTube, but it is available at iTunes.

Here is a 30-second taste of the genius wit:

Would you believe he is (or was) a democrat and wrote some of the jokes President Kennedy used in his speeches?

Yes, what you see and hear in the above video is a Democrat's view of Capitalism back in the 60's.

So much hope and change has occurred since then.  It isn't Mort Sahl's Democrat Party anymore.

Mr. Sahl is 85 and still with us.  Here is his website and Wikipedia page.

Name Calling

We've put a finger in the air (no, not that one) to gauge the reaction of our dear leader's recent inauguration.  While we noticed his second inauguration speech was a bit more 'collective', we encourage you to wait until his third inauguration speech for true enlightenment.

So what areas of consensus are floating out there in cyberblogworld?  Apparently, Obama is a Communist.  Seriously.  Let me show you:

ZeroHedge: The Socialism of Europe Has Arrived At Our Shores...

America has turned the corner from the self-sufficiency of an individual to a new ideology for this country which is that incomes and life-styles should be equalized by taxes in the name of patriotism and for the greater good.

Victoria Jackson: This is What Banned me from Facebook  (photo above)

One of the first signs of communism is censorship. The media is controlled by the left, government. This is proof. How can we fight back?

Maser Media: What's Red All Over?

It is time to officially put an end to the mincing, hesitant criticisms of the American Liberals and the Democrat Party. Actually, it’s long past time. The Democrat Party’s goal is communism.

[Video @ RightScoop]  Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro: Obama’s inaugural speech was ‘Orwellian’, proves that he hates the Constitution

NiceDeb:  Obama's Not a "Liberal" - He's a Communist

Let’s get the terminology right. The fact of the matter is, the entire Democrat party today is Communist/ Marxist/Socialist/Collectivist/Statist. There are no more conservative or moderate Democrats. They all support the big government collectivist agenda – and they’re all willing to lie, cheat and steal in order to maintain it.

New Zeal:  The Communist Takeover Of America – 45 Declared Goals

In the wake of President Obama’s liberal Progressive second Inaugural speech, it is time for another look at greater underlying agendas and perhaps a time to remember that Progressivism = Socialism = Fascism = Marxism = Communism.

Two of the authors above own our Commie Obama hat.  Do you?

Ok - time to put that other finger back into the air.

Quote of the Day

From the Utah Sheriff's Association:

We respect the Office of the President of the United States of America. But, make no mistake, as the duly-elected sheriffs of our respective counties, we will enforce the rights guaranteed to our citizens by the Constitution. No federal official will be permitted to descend upon our constituents and take from them what the Bill of Rights — in particular Amendment II — has given them. We, like you, swore a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and we are prepared to trade our lives for the preservation of its traditional interpretation.

He Prefers the Sickle

When Liberals Progressives Communists scoff at our references to our dear leader as a communist-inspired president, they have history on their side.  Sort of.

You see, Obama is no communist if you're talking Lenin, Trotsky, Mao, Stalin, Che or Castro.  And he is definitely not a Pol Pot.  The killing isn't happening here in the US.  Some might qualify that last sentence with "yet," but we digress.

Back to the comparisons.  Lenin favored the worker.  It was a "workers revolution" in 1917 Russia, not the peasant revolution that Marx predicted.  The peasant was expected to deliver the same crops as he did under the Tsars, but for free.  "For the greater good," so to speak.  This didn't happen as planned, but the propaganda always included the peasant in the revolution, hence the Sickle is part of the communist symbol.

You could say the peasant was included in Lenin's revolution in the same spirit "Unity" was mentioned in today's inauguration speech.

We would argue that Obama has favored the farmer so far.  Not that he's done anything to help the farmers, especially the small, family owned farms.  And he hasn't acted on his dream of 'fixing' the nation's food distribution process.  Yet.  But since he has put so many workers out of work, the farms compare quite nicely.

So after one term in office, we'd would have to argue that he likes the Sickle over the Hammer.  But don't ask him.  Like any parent of two or more children, he'll say he loves all equally, as he should.  Because that is fair.

Finding Our Voice

We've learned one disappointing fact since starting Ushanka 6 years ago.  Our side is not in constant battle, and is defensive in nature.

So when it is time for us to go on the offense, it takes time.   Conservatives are busy with families and jobs and church and signing checks on the front, which gives Liberals Progressives Communists the advantage in the world of political battles.

But whenever Conservatives are given the chance, their side always wins.  Reagan knew this.  We know this.

The Sandy Hook shooting was over a month ago.  The Liberal Progressive Communist gun-grabbers attempted to exploit that event to take our guns.  While the push back was solid from our side, the best counter-propaganda is just now coming out.  Here are some we saw this morning on FB:

Ushanka Tips to all who are fighting this battle!

And this found at NiceDeb:

2nd Term

Comrades!  Today we begin the next Four Year Plan.

Words you will hear and headlines you will see as we toil in the coming years:

"We are turning the corner"

"I will not rest until everything is fair"

"It was worse than we thought"

"There are folks who are not doing their fair share"

"We must make sensible changes to food distribution"

"We must follow a balanced approach when we discuss gun rights"

"America must pay its bills"

"We've disabled the extreme blogs for the greater good"

We are keeping track of our dear leader's progress on the path to utopia in our Obama's To Do document.  This is a great tool for those who prefer to measure actual actions by this president instead of his words.

We smoked a Rocky Patel Edge (Blue Label) in the afternoon sunlight Saturday as hat evangelists Captain Capitalism and Davis M. J. Aurini were preparing for a night out in Calgary.

UPDATED 1.23:

Aurini (pictured at right above) posted a YouTube After Action Report of his visit with Clarey (left) and other bloggers.  He talks about the "cultural counter-revolution" and shares his opinions about Libertarians, which happen to be perfectly aligned with our opinions of Libertarians.

Quote of the Day

This quote is quite powerful for those who know what we're talking about when we say "the knock on the door" or "kitchen table talk."

From TL in Exile:

So, why is it so quiet when Second Amendment issues are being discussed between so many people at the same time? Because anything one might say to another is a solid statement of intent. When one person tells another that the totalitarian thug that arrives at his door asking about his weapons will be met with lead poisoning, it could be considered a threat and facilitate that knock on the door. These are dangerous times when the government turns against its people.

Left-Wing MSM - An Assessment

Quote of the Day

Comrade and hat owner Ann Barnhardt recommends the Russian movie, Admiral:

The acting and action scenes are very good and some are downright moving. Great filmmaking. It is important to see how people were slaughtered by the Communists, because we're ramping up to the same thing here. Russia went from everyone being on the same team with a highly sophisticated culture to people being lined up and shot by their fellow countrymen almost overnight.

Saturday Afternoon Cigar

65 degrees in Ohio today.  Burned a Romeo y Julieta.

Inflation - Another Perspective

Peter Schiff did his own inflation calculations and has discovered the government is understating their CPI.  This is a bit more objective than the calculations we presented in our inflation article last month.

Here is his graph showing the government's inflation assessment of healthcare costs since 2008 (left) and an estimate Schiff shares (right).

If you are reading this in America, then this will impact you.  And it will hurt.  Start your paradigm shift now by watching his 14-minute video.

[9 minute mark]

Who knows what these numbers are?  Where the government comes up with these numbers.

But we know this.  The last thing the government wants is for the public and for investors to know how much inflation we have.

So there clearly is a vested interest on the part of the government to fool the world into believing that there is no inflation.

After all, if they admitted there is inflation, they couldn't keep stimulating the economy and claiming that all the quantitative easing wasn't causing inflation.

The government would be forced to deal with the deficit if they acknowledged that there is inflation.

---

[11 minute mark]

It is my opinion that the true rate of inflation is probably somewhere between seven and ten percent.

We have failed in many of our investments in the past and have made a conscious decision to not fail again.  We are reading every article on inflation and making some adjustments now so we'll better weather the storm later.  We hope you are too.

Nice to see some folks come out and explain the history.  The positive to Comrade Obama's gun-grabbing is we get to voice our side, and there are some who know their history.

The 1917 Russians didn't know what was coming.  Nor did the 1930's Jews in Germany.  We don't have an excuse.  Even those of us who went to public school.

Bringing Us Together

Our Dear Leader is bringing us together as he kicks-off his glorious second 4-year plan.

Disagreements?  People following their own path rather than his?  Strife?  These are all fixed with an executive order.  Why did this nation wait 240 years to figure this out?

Patriot Nurse is just the latest to embrace the dictatorship of the proletariat.  She embodies the consciousness of the proletarian and shares her passion with the masses.

But are the masses listening?

Symbols - It Is Getting Harder To Deny

We're always up for a challenge.

But to get us to explain away the symbols that we are seeing these days?

There is a LOT more behind these images than the petty partisanship that led to Bush images with the Hitler mustache.  Just look at your pay stub if you are one of the lucky ones with a job.

New Book: Enjoy the Decline

As you know, we have a new comrade: author and blogger and hat owner, Aaron Clarey.

His latest book is called Enjoy the Decline.

His announcement.

Available at Amazon: Click Here to get your copy.

Clarey joins a growing chorus of folks who see a major bubble popping in the near future.  It has many names:  Entitlements, the Dollar, the Debt Bubble, or what we recently wrote about - Inflation.

A new world is coming and there is nothing you or I can do about it?  Clarey suggests we might as well get our heads straight and enjoy our new reality.

Both I and Catherine the Great helped Clarey with his proofreading, so we've read about 25% of the new book already.

It is that good.

Enjoy the Decline is a fun read.  Clarey doesn't pull punches with those who have created the bubble.  He explains to the reader exactly what they have done and their flawed motivation.  This was not something new to us, but it is a fun refresher that reinforces our belief that ideology trumps all else.  Liberals will perform an abortion on the alter at their own church, disarm an inner-city mother, and steal from someone who worked while they slept in.  (These aren't Clarey's words - we're just inspired by him and going off on a rant here....)

Enjoy the Decline will save you money!  Can you imagine the lines for ObamaCare psychiatric help when entitlements are distributed based on actual tax revenues rather than what was promised?  How will the Wall Street crowd react when the Fed stops sending them $85B a month to prop-up the stock market?  How will career-minded people who've invested heavily into their academic and professional life accept a high-tax low-pay job market?  Read this book and you will be ready.  Read this book and you will have a winning attitude to take the coming collapse in stride.  Read this book and skip the coming depression, both economic and psychological.

It is even rumored that our Commie Obama Hat is mentioned in the book....

Here are a few paragraphs from chapter 11:

Better People, Better Lives

The benefits of having higher-quality people in your life are obvious. If you have intelligent friends, you will have better conversation. If you have interesting and eclectic colleagues you will have a more interesting career. If you have a hotter spouse you will have a better sex life. And if you have a stronger character you will have a better family. In general the higher quality of people in your life, the higher quality life you will lead. But the added benefit of having good people in your life is that it strikes at the biggest weakness of leftists – envy.

Understand at the core of leftist ideology is the concept of equality. We can see this in the left’s demand to constantly redistribute more and more income, and there is no doubt in anybody’s mind that deep down inside most leftists would love nothing more than to achieve 100% equal income distribution. However, the left’s desire to make things “fair” doesn’t stop with income and wealth. There are other instances of inequality in life. Intelligence, prestige, skill, looks, strength, talent, etc. Even things that do not speak to a person’s character or intelligence is deemed “unequal” such as height or race or sex. And if you go beyond the left’s fiscal ideology and look at its social ideology, you can see they are actively attempting to make things equal in these non-financial aspects as well. “Fat acceptance,” not keeping score at little league games, the elimination of “he” and “she” in the Swedish language, etc. In short, they wish to eliminate ALL differences between ALL people.

The problem in doing so is that you eliminate the individual. And individuality is what makes humans the most cherished things on Earth. The reason leftists pursue the elimination of individuality, however, is because they’re afraid of being inferior. Sadly, all they manage to achieve in surrounding themselves with boring, equally mediocre, like-minded people is a boring, equally mediocre life.

It is only logical then what we can do to get our revenge from these people. Rub their faces in it.

Well Played

First:

Create a bunch of rules about buying cough medicine and alcohol that hurt those who weren't misusing the products in the first place.

Then:

Refer to the burdens created by your rules to advance more rules on people who are not causing the problems that your rules are meant to stop.

California politician Nancy Skinner via NBC:

“2,800 people in California were killed last year by gunfire," Skinner said. "It is easier to buy bullets than cough medicine or alcohol. It should not be that easy. We need to have much more scrutiny when it comes to the purchase of guns."

Well played, libs!

Tyranny: it takes time, effort and patience.

BTW, we call it "ammo."

UPDATED 5 minutes later:

FB Comrade MJ posted this video.  Could this be Nancy Skinner?

Aurini on Guns

You may have seen:  Some conspiracy guy went on CNN yesterday and yelled at that British gun-grabber.

We were surprised too!  CNN is still broadcasting?  Big news, but not our point here.

Our point is not all gun-owners speak for us, yet that is the message CNN will want the Obamaphone public to glean from yesterday's spectacle.  We share the conspiracy guy's passion for the second ammendment, but do not share his tactics or judgement.

We could go on, but why?

Canadian hat owner, author and blogger Davis M. J. Aurini gives us a fantastic 23-minute chat.

He shares our opinion about yesterday's CNN interview, and gives us a good overview of what we Americans risk (in the area of higher and more violent crime) with tighter gun control.  He wraps-up with the topic of tyranny, something we hope he will expand on in future chats.

Gun Control - Week 2

Here comes another week of gun control noise.

Not that we are ignoring the noise, or discounting it.  We are sending letters to our congressman and two senators in tomorrow's mail.  We've written politicians before, but can't remember when or why.  If others are doing their part, as all should be, then DC will grind to a halt in the coming days from the mail overload.  That's our 'hope' in this new world of 'hope and change.'

Here are some items floating through the interwebz today:

Found at Knuckledraggin My Life Away.  It is worth the hour!

Bob Owens:

I’ve done a lot more research (and considerable praying that I’ll turn out to be wrong) in recent days, based upon both history and evolving current realities.

The situation isn’t as bad as we’ve feared it might be. It’s far, far worse.

If the statists push through with their plan, we’re possibly looking into a nation of a thousand Sarajevos and Groznys where a war will rip this nation to shreds and cause a horror from which we may never recover.

If you aren’t familiar with these analogies, allow me a moment to explain.

---

There is nothing so deadly and desperate as cornered tyrants, as the battered people of Syria would tell you right now if they weren’t trapped between Bashir Assad’s government forces and the al Qaeda-aligned militants supplied by Barack Obama’s Administration and the late ambassador Chris Stevens.

If you think that couldn’t or wouldn’t happen here, I direct you to the complaints department led by the ghost of Vickie Weaver and the children that burned to death in the Branch Davidian compound in Waco under the last Democrat President, who was far less radical and divisive that the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Click over to see Bob's two words of advice.

The D.C. Closeline Blog:  If They Come for Your Guns, Do You Have a Responsibility to Fight?

Do you agree?

Hat owner and gun-blogger Tam:

How does gun registration do a single thing to curb gun violence?

If I write down my name and address and my gun's serial number on a 3x5" index card and hand it to you, how can you use that index card to keep me from shooting somebody, other than maybe waving it in my face in an attempt to throw off my aim?

Gun registration does nothing... can do nothing... to curb gun violence. All it can do is tell you who the gun belonged to at some point in in the past, should you happen to find it dropped at the murder scene, next to the cooling body.

At best it's a placebo to the perpetually fearful, while at worst (and historically it's nearly always been worst) it's a prelude to confiscation.

A conversation with a FB Comrade today:

Oleg, on the Ethics of Gun Control:

Gun control pushers already advocate using deadly force against tens of millions of people whose only crime is peacefully possessing something the rulers do not like.

With the actions of a few criminals and psychopaths held up as their excuse, they propose victimizing tens of millions of people who are innocent of any wrongdoing.

Like muggers and rapists, gun control pushers rationalize their actions by blaming the victims.

Is Senator Feinstein's response to the image above to ban lists?

Purchasing Power

Our Dear Leader is teaching us all kinds of new terms.

"Stimulus" was the first.  Then "Right Wing Extremist."  Then "Death Panel," which is not part of ObamaCare even though it is.  "Balanced Approach," "Back From the Brink" and "Summer of Recover" were some of our favorites.  And don't forget "FORWARD" comrades!

The term du jour (actually l'année) is "Purchasing Power."  You won't hear him ever say these words, but you'll hear every shopper mutter them in the coming days.

Economist Marc Faber said back on October 31 (Video.  See 13:35 mark):

The purchasing power of the US dollar has gone down by 98% since the introduction of the Federal Reserve.

And it took more than 100 years for this to happen.

The next 99% loss in the purchasing power of the dollar could happen in ten year's time.

We learned the term "Purchasing Power" when we researched our recent article on Inflation.  Click over to American Thinker to learn more, or close your browser now and keep your head in the sand.

Thanks to the selfless and unending fiscal leadership of our dear leader, Comrade Obama, the price of silver has dropped 7.6% in the past month.  And you know what that means, right comrades?

Hats for sale!  Lovely furry hats for sale!

Yes, we've priced our hat to the price of an ounce of silver since the November election.  Each month we will adjust the price of the hat to the closing price of silver on the first business day of the month.  You can read more about this pricing change in our inflation article at American Thinker.

December's price: $33.64.  January's price: 31.07.  YOU SAVE $2.57 on every Commie Obama Hat that you purchase!

So act now and click over to CommieObama.com to buy your hat(s) today.  Or, if you think Comrade Obama will continue to steer this economy into prosperity, wait and buy a hat when the price of silver drops to under $10 an ounce.  Don't let the golfing and surfing and partisanship and coverups fool you.  Comrade Obama has a firm grasp of the economy and is doing a far better job than, well, anyone else could.  He has your bank account best interests at heart.

And in case you need to see the splendid glorious hat in action, Captain Capitalism just posted a video wearing our hat.  Good timing Comrade Captain!

Catching Pigs

Comrade Mr. B relates a story on how to catch pigs.

Here is how it starts:

One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter.

The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back.

He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist regime.

Read it all.

Principled Republicans

Let us know when you see 'em.

If we had principled leadership in Washington, we'd see this:

1) No new debt ceilings,
2) No rush to raise taxes by 'reforming' the tax code,
3) An immediate "DOA" response for any gun control,
4) Impeachment proceedings for Benghazi,
5) Impeachment proceedings for Fast and Furious,
6) A new Speaker of the House.

Breaking news: Speaker Boehner was just re-elected as Speaker of the House.

The Hill:

In his remarks shortly after the vote, Boehner emphasized the need to reduce government spending and debt, saying future generations would have opportunities only if lawmakers worked to break free of the national debt.

"Our government has built up too much debt. Our economy is not producing enough jobs," Boehner said. "These are not separate problems.

"At $16 trillion and rising, our national debt is draining free enterprise and weakening the ship of state," he said.

With control of the debt limit, Speaker Boehner has just one person to complain to.  The man in the mirror.

Molon Labe

Molon Labe. Wikipedia:

The Ancient Greek phrase μολὼν λαβέ (molṑn labé; reconstructed Ancient Greek pronunciation [mo'lɔːn la'be]; Modern Greek pronunciation [moˈlon laˈve]) means "Come and take them". It is a classical expression of defiance reportedly spoken by King Leonidas I in response to the Persian army's demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae. It is an exemplary use of a laconic phrase.

Big Fur Hat at IOTW just announced that his Molon Labe design will soon be available on t-shirts from AnthemStudios.net. Very nice!

You can find other Molon Labe shirts at Gasden and Culpepper, and stickers/hats/shirts at Zazzle.

Instapundit blogger Glenn Reynolds interviews gun-blogger Bob Owens today.  Good conversation.

We tip our furry ushanka to Bob for discussing the significance of April 19, 1775 at the 4-minute mark.  Everybody needs to know about that day.

UPDATED 12:15pm:

We highly recommend Bob's latest post about the four boxes.  This paragraph stands out:

Sober and reflective men who have seen the horrors of combat in far away nations are grimly preparing their kit for a conflict within the borders of our Republic. They do this not because they desire an interruption of our domestic tranquility, but because they’ve already seen it shattered.

UPDATED 1.6.13 Noon:

Big Fur Hat's shirt is now for sale at Anthem Studios.  Just $15!

Quote of the Day

FB Comrade David posted this quote from an article in Elks Magazine from August 1956.

J. Edgar Hoover on Communism:

The individual is handicapped by coming face-to-face with a conspiracy so monstrous he cannot believe it exists. The American mind simply has not come to a realization of the evil which has been introduced into our midst. It rejects even the assumption that human creatures could espouse a philosophy which must ultimately destroy all that is good and decent.

Something we've found in our study of Communism is that ALL was known of their intentions, capabilities and tactics by the 1950's.  We've known their game plan for over 60 years.  We won in '89 and '91, but have been losing ever since.
