"F*ck you, b**ch! You owe us!"

If this story of a Walmart charity event yesterday depresses you, please blame Mr. B.  He's the one that told us about it.  I'm not ashamed to admit it had me crying for America...

If, for some odd, sick or twisted reason this story leaves you unfulfilled, please see our related post from earlier this year titled: EBT: Is It Enough?

Some select quotes from Lonely Libertarian's Walmart visit:
Now, I'm extremely charitable, I'll give the shirt off my back and the last buck in my pocket to someone who really needs it. And I don't expect drippy gratitude, a "Hey, thanks!" is good enough. But when I give someone something, the last thing I expect is hostility. And that's just a small fraction of what I witnessed at Walmart this morning.

I'd been there about 5 minutes when three Walmart workers finally showed up to stop the three kids who were opening packages of notebook paper and throwing them at each other.

Walking into the bathroom was one of the saddest and most disgusting things I've ever seen. It was trashed, stank, and there were feminine products and feces clogging all the toilets. There was one woman standing at the sinks, crying, dressed in Salvation Army gear. She wasn't talking to me, but I could hear her saying, "It wasn't supposed to be like this, they're so ugly, it's just so wrong."

You know, I have an idea that hasn't been tried.  Walmart should do a reality TV series.  Take video and audio from their stores - ideally from the checkout stations - and have a non-threatening non-judgemental type (someone not like me) critique the behavior of selected scenes.  They could call the show "MANNERS."  Or, "OBAMA'S AMERICA."  The host could use actors to re-create the scene, but show how civilized people would be expected to behave, dress, etc.  Sort of a human civilization make-over.

I'd like MANNERS to tell us how each customer paid.  They could also interview other shoppers and ask for opinions on common everyday topics such as government assistance for:  food, rent, education, child care, healthcare, transportation, job placement, job retention, etc.

Here is how I see the MANNERS concept being discussed in the board room:
DIRECTOR A:  We could make millions on this show, and maybe shame people into better behavior.  What do you think?

CEO:  Are you crazy?!  We'll scare everyone from shopping at Walmart.   Did Target come up with this idea?

DIRECTOR A:  No, we got the idea off of some obscure blog.  But think of the money!  We'll have the only show that attracts both the respectable crowd and the, uh, um....

DIRECTOR B: The EBT crowd.

DIRECTOR A:  Right.  Say, where did you hear that?

DIRECTOR B:  From some obscure blog.

CEO:  Ladies and gentlemen of the board... not on my watch.  What is the next item on the agenda, Mary?
MARY:  The status of the cease and desist request for PeopleOfWalmart.
CEO:  Right Mary.  Thanks.  Folks, my mother keeps sending me these email messages full of horrible pictures from our stores....

Again, my apologies.  I try to keep Ushanka an upbeat and fun place.

Does this help?

UPDATED 8.25.14:

I completely forgot about our own charity efforts here at Ushanka.  Be sure to see our Hat Give-Away videos from Dayton and Cincinnati!

You'll not only see the spirit of giving.  You'll see the spirit of taking too!

Wow, I don't know how you stumbled into my humble little corner of the blogosphere, but I appreciate the link!
Being in the middle of the Texas Panhandle, there's still more of "us" than "them", but recent events have started to tip the balance. This is the first time I've witnessed anything like this around here.

Doesn't every patriotic American start their day at The Lonely Libertarian?

Thanks again for sharing your story. It is important that we share these experiences to stay informed and to stay safe.
