I'll be taking the weekend off for two reasons: Mother's Day, and Graduation Day.
First, to the Moms: Happy Mother's Day!
Second, some Ushanka news. Comrade Zhukov is graduating today at The Ohio State University.
Congratulations Comrade Zhukov!
I've had the privilege of meeting many of Zhukov's fellow students and I have to say: despite my general pessimistic feeling about this next generation based on what I see in social and old media or on the streets of Ferguson and Baltimore, I have yet to meet one who does not impress the s**t out of me. A new batch of winners will be hitting the streets this next week. They go unseen, but they exist.
Here is a product of some of those winners in college today. A song written and sung by students at Oberlin College. (Yes, the same college Baltimore's retarded mayor and the State Dept's ditzy spokeswoman came out of.) U/T: WZ.
The ISIS attack in Texas last week has pushed the Left left.
It was either stand against terror and admit the Democrat Party sucks, or stand with terror and avoid admitting their biggest mistake since Chamberlain's Munich Agreement of 1938.
Bill Whittle gets this. He links the left's new preference of terror over freedom of speech to the Bolshevik takeover of Russia and the Nazi takeover of Germany starting at the 4:30 mark. He explains that these takeovers, and resulting genocides, started long before a bullet was fired. It started with useful idiots redefining right and wrong to the willing masses. Or as Bill calls them: cowards.
A hearty Ushanka Tip to Comrade Whittle for doing what I've been trying to do at Ushanka for over 8 years: Point to today's events and show how similar events played out in recent history. Anybody who can't see the value in this is beyond help.
Of the useful idiots taking us down the path of tyranny again, the old media are the worst. Their reach into American homes and their hate for American values is as deep as their guilt in this evil plot.
MRC released this excellent collection of clips to show the MSM's immediate redefinition of right and wrong.
My take is that this latest event is so full of Fail for both the perpetually offended adherents of the Religion Of Peace (tm) and for the hoplophobic would-be Overlords of Progressivism, and so chock-full of chocolatey frosted win for Those Of Us Who Like Guns, that this event will disappear from the mainstream news pages in about seven seconds, even if Bloombozo has to sponsor, at his own expense, two psychotic whackjobs to shoot up separate busloads of pre-schoolers to accomplish the feat.
Or David French, an Iraqi veteran who adds some perspective at National Review:
The New York Times has peered into Pamela Geller’s heart — and found it full of hate. I’ll let others make the argument that it’s unseemly to so viciously attack the victim of an attempted murder just three days after the attack — to accuse her of intentionally provoking the attempt on her own life and the lives of her friends and supporters, no less. And Rich Lowry has offered a convincing argument that Geller was motivated not by hate, but rather “defiance.” Let me instead offer a defense of hatred.
But first, a confession. I’m far more hateful than Pamela Geller. In fact, I’d argue there’s no way that she could hate jihad more than I do. I’ve seen jihad up-close, in an Iraqi province where jihadists raped women to shame them into becoming suicide bombers, where they put bombs in little boys’ backpacks then remotely detonated them at family gatherings, where they beheaded innocent civilians while cheering wildly like they were at a soccer match, and where they shot babies in the face to “send a message” to their parents. I’ve seen the despair in the eyes of the innocent victims of jihad, and — believe me — that despair is infinitely greater than the alleged “anguish” caused by a few cartoons.
Two wanna-be terrorists tried to disrupt a freedom of speech event in Garland Texas Sunday night. They died trying.
They posted their plot online, but it missed the attention of the NSA. (A government agency responsible for detecting online terrorist threats. But apparently not on Sundays.)
They traveled 1,082 miles from Phoenix, which missed the attention of the FBI. (A government agency who had been "watching" them since 2007. But apparently were watching someone else. More at GP. Added 5.7: GP reports the FBI knew about their plans to attack "hours" before the actual attack.)
The Phoenix terrorists were killed by the first police officer they encountered.
Perhaps... and try to follow along with me here... but perhaps local law enforcement is all we need to protect ourselves from domestic terrorists?
A hearty Ushanka Tip to Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer for sponsoring the Draw Mohammed contest. They are at the tip of the spear in the battle against the Liberals'Progressives' Communists' assaults on political correctness and free speech.
And congratulations to our FB Comrade, Bosch Fawstin, who won the contest with this drawing:
Bosch talks with Gretta Van Susteren:
This freedom of speech concept is catching. Let me try:
I'd like to take this opportunity
to announce Ushanka's first monthly
Draw Mohammed contest!
We'll hold this at my local outdoor range, approx. exactly 300 yards from the entrance gate every first Saturday of the month at 2:30pm (or 30 minutes after the services at the local mosque end). We'll begin, of course, with an opening prayer and the pledge of allegience. We'll then serve bacon and ham, and play games like pin the tail on the camel, push the goat over the fence, and shoot the pedophile prophet. Bring the whole family (and hearing and eye protection) - there will be fun and excitement for all!
This is the second time today I posted this one:
UPDATED and BUMPED 5.7.15 6pm:
Comrade Bosch has been kicked off Facebook. From his Twitter account:
More proof, as if needed, that FB shares Obama's Marxist Islamist Totalitarian agenda.
UPDATED 6:05:
I just saw a post by Bosch on FB. I guess the rumors of his FB exile were greatly exaggerated... (I still think FB shares Obama's Marxist Islamist Totalitarian agenda...)
Breitbart interviews Pamela (and posts some of the cartoons!!):
Breitbart News: Even some conservative columnists and a potential presidential candidate (Donald Trump) have resorted to personal attacks against you as a preface before arguing in defense of free speech. Why do you feel that so many have come to attack the messenger?
Pamela Geller: This is the problem with the conservatives. This is why we can never nominate qualified, brave, true conservative candidates. The conservative movement has trimmed to accommodate the leftist media so much that they’ve trimmed themselves out of principle. They attack me because they’re desperately afraid that the leftist media will smear them by association with me. It is an act of sheer cowardice.
Mayor of Garland Texas: Her [Pamela Geller's] actions put my police officers, my citizens and others at risk. Her program invited an incendiary reaction.
Geller: How ridiculous. I mean, that’s like saying that the pretty girl was responsible for her own rape. The mayor is going after the defenders of free speech and clearly giving a free pass to the savages who came with guns to kill innocent people because of a cartoon.
Exactly.
Comrade Tam "nearly drove into the ditch, yelling at the radio and gnawing on the steering wheel in impotent frustration" while listening to liberals excuse murder and blame cartoonists on NPR:
It used to be that if there was one thing you could at least count on liberals for, it was a vigorous defense of free speech; it's a cause that has found the ACLU in bed with the NRA on at least one occasion I can think of. This new turn is... chilling.
Here is what I've come to accept about liberals:
Liberals will excuse anything (including destruction of property, murder, dead cops, no-knock raids, and concentration camps) in order to cling to their failed ideas and ideology.
Liberalism trumps everything, including religion.
Liberals will work 80 hours a week (protesting, striking, complaining) to avoid working 40 hours a week producing something.
Liberals prefer destruction to construction and production.
Liberals are only generous when it is someone else's time, money or productivity.
Liberals have spent 160 years attempting to polish the ideas of Karl Marx for maximum market appeal.
Fox News' Lou Dobbs summarizes the role the Democrat Party plays in Baltimore:
Democratic leaders have been responsible for a half century of neglect... Who've proved themselves to be hurtful, and their policies to be an utter waste. Those leaders and their liberal polices have driven out business, and people. Baltimore's population peaked in 1950 and has tumbled more than 30-percent in the years since. The unemployment rate stands at 8.4 percent with nearly a quarter of the population living below the poverty level... The city's crime rate is outrageous, particularly given that Baltimore has the eighth largest police force in the country. The violent crime rate nearly four times the national average and the city's murder rate is more than eight times higher. Baltimore is an embarrassing and tragic demonstration of the consequences and impact of bankrupt liberal policies over some 50 years. And the likelihood that the people of Baltimore won't change direction for either themselves, their children or their city is truly deeply disappointing and truly tragic.Join us tonight at 11 pm ET on Fox Business

It doesn’t take a village to raze, burn, and loot a village. It just takes 50 years of liberal economic and social policies. Of course the liberal media, liberal politicians, and liberal voters don’t think anyone should be blamed for the disaster that Baltimore and every other Democrat controlled urban shithole (Detroit, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Atlanta, Cleveland) have become over the last 50 years. Community organizer Adam Jackson, living up to the standards of Organizer in Chief Obama, declared that in Baltimore “the Democrats and the Republicans have both failed.” At least progressive community organizers have a sense of humor. How can Republicans have failed if the mayors and City Council have been 100% Democrat since the mid 1960s? I wonder how many Republicans were among the youths burning, looting, and destroying the city this week.
A FB Comrade posted this meme. Great joke, but failed analogy.
The joke: the convict who resisted arrest and later died in Baltimore PD's custody, and who is the false martyr for the recent Baltimore civil unrest, was named Freddie Gray. Freddie Mercury, the man in the photo, was the lead singer for the rock group Queen.
Freddie Mercury (5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991) was a British singer, songwriter and producer, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was known for his flamboyant stage persona and powerful vocals over a four-octave range. As a songwriter, he composed many hits for Queen, including "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "Somebody to Love," "Don't Stop Me Now," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," and "We Are the Champions." Mercury also led a solo career, and also occasionally served as a producer and guest musician (piano or vocals) for other artists.
Mercury was a Parsi born in the Sultanate of Zanzibar and grew up there and in India until his mid-teens. He died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on 24 November 1991, one day after publicly acknowledging he had the disease. Posthumously, in 1992 he was awarded the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, and the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert was held at Wembley Stadium, London. As a member of Queen, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004, and the band received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002. Also in 2002, Mercury was placed at number 58 in the BBC's poll of the 100 Greatest Britons.
He has been voted one of the greatest singers in the history of popular music. In 2005, a poll organized by Blender and MTV2 saw Mercury voted the best male singer of all time. In 2008, Rolling Stone editors ranked him number 18 on their list of the 100 greatest singers ever. In 2009, a Classic Rock poll elected him the best rock singer of all time. Additionally, AllMusic has characterized Mercury as "one of rock's greatest all-time entertainers," who possessed "one of the greatest voices in all of music."
Here are the accomplishments for Freddie Gray:
Five arrests in just the past year. That seemed odd to me that he was on the streets. Had I been arrested five times in the past year for the same offenses, despite my white privilege, I would be in jail.
