One in six work-capable Americans is out of work, yet in North Korea everyone has a job that they go to "merrily," with "conviction and optimism."
Our only logical conclusion: Obama is a lousy communist.

On Monday, the Wisconsin Education Association Council announced it will lay off about 40% of its staff, a change executive director Dan Burkhalter blamed on Mr. Walker's "union-busting legislation." In December the union will face another reality check, as 51% of its members must vote to recertify it as their representative. With members no longer captive dues payers, the union has been forced to begin new outreach efforts, including home visits, to sell its relevance to workers.
The net effect of more than $30 million spent in Wisconsin's recall elections may seem like an exercise in futility, but the real lesson may be that voters were never as enraged by the policy dispute as the political professionals said they were. Unions made Wisconsin a great battleground to send a message to other states that politicians who challenge union power will pay a price. The real price was paid by the unions themselves, in the national demonstration of their diminishing power.

Pardon our tardiness with the London riot story, but we didn't want to chime in on the topic when the only input we had to offer was the same input we always offer: Where there are protests, there are Communists.

But today Law Professor and author Joyce Lee Malcolm published an opinion piece in the WSJ that motivated this post. This article is great for it summarizes England's gun debate for the interested yet poorly informed American (us). We could pick any paragraph out to quote as the entire article drips with facts. Here are our favorites from The Soft-on-Crime Roots of British Disorder:
It is as sad to watch England decline as is the knowledge that things will get far worse if she makes the tough choices to save herself. An entire generation there (and here) have been programmed to think they are entitled to free stuff, and that those with more stuff will pay the bills.
There is no telling how far they will go in England, but we find some comfort in the fact that a few muzzle-flashes here in the states will limit the destruction.

We think any Obama 2012-inspired race riots will have the same effect as the stated goals of Stimulus (creating jobs), QEx (stabilizing economy), ObamaCare (reducing health care costs), GM Bailout (restoring GM to profitability), etc. It will backfire and cause a lot of damage.
We were in Los Angeles in 1992. The guilt caused by those riots cannot be duplicated today. The residents of South Central burned the local businesses to the ground, claimed victim status, and were rewarded with new businesses building their stores in the same neighborhoods. They further guilted banks to issue sub-prime loans. We saw how that worked.
The differences today: businesses (except GE, GM and Chrysler) are the true victims. 17% of working-capable Americans who are un-employed are the true victims.
Victims generally don't give charity to people who fake victim status.
Nor does the US government have the money (or enough democrats) to throw money at those who will choose to riot in the next year. If something burns in 2012, it will stay burnt.

They are willing to go that far – go down that road if need be. If the Obama team can’t guilt enough of White America into voting for them in 2012 – they are just fine with trying to scare the shit out of them to do it. And you need to know that there are a lot of Democrats who are hearing about this and are not on board. The most amazing thing about the reaction of English MPs to last week’s terrible violence was how surprised they were. For a country whose criminal law is invariably sympathetic to offenders, nearly always harsh on their victims, and unwilling to pay for adequate policing the surprise is that they were surprised.

Envy Explained

As we've said before, we think the most compelling campaign slogan for Obama in 2012 would be "More Free Stuff".

Have you ever once, once, seen a person on assistance publicly thank the people whose extra work made that assistance possible? I haven't.
Now I'm afraid this is the real poverty in America. It is a poverty of dependency and entitlement. Entire generations now, without any sense of control over their own destiny, stoked mostly by a Democrat Party whose full time job it is to fan the flames of resentment and envy so they can buy votes by promising people more of what their neighbor has worked for.
Because that is what it has come to today, now that half of Americans don't pay income tax. It is us vs. them.
Now I'm afraid this is the real poverty in America. It is a poverty of dependency and entitlement. 1 Downgrade, 1 Upgrade
We watched the sky fall on our iPhone stock ticker on Friday as we were headed into Chicago. Apparently the US debt rating has slipped due to some riskier financial behavior of late.
While some appear to blame the tea party for the new $2T deficit, we're going against the pack and leaning towards blaming the Obama Administration.
Time will tell.
The 5-day DOW chart at today's market close:
Gateway Pundit mentions the recent upgrade for Ohio, and includes this video of our Gov. Kasich. Our Dear Leader says higher taxes will restore America's credit rating, but lowering taxes and cutting spending was what Gov. Kasich did. Only a die-hard commie would ignore this.

Lessons Learned
English Russia posts some photos from 1932 Soviet Union. The photographer of this photo was arrested because taking pictures of starving peasants is ok, while photographing the latest in high-speed rail technology is treason.
These people (actually their grandchildren) had 59 more years before having the freedom to choose their own path in life.
Imagine how different it would have been if Stalin and his successors had not repeatedly extended their debt-ceiling.

Chalk one up for those inflexible extremist bigoted Tea Partiers. Endless negotiations and not one tax increase.
Plus we think these debt negotiations were Obama's first actual meetings he's ever attended. Did you get that feeling too?
The details come out tomorrow - and there is no doubt the MSM is working feverishly tonight to find the necessary spin - but from what we've seen this was a solid step in the right direction. They'll pit Boehner supporters against Ron Paul supporters to show dissension and disarray in the ranks, but we'll know better.
Speaker Boehner released a powerpoint deck that summarizes the deal. Like Prof. Jacobson, we liked this slide:

We are as proud of them as we are of those who kept taxes out and kept the Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) in.
We see courage in both groups of Republicans, which allows us to stew in our smug, malicious satisfaction.
The BBA debate starts in two months. Prediction: Party line vote.

So, Israel, beware. Oil companies - beware. Makers of fine private jets - beware. Today's win for us will mean a loss for someone associated with capitalism, freedom, religion (not incl. Islam), life or guns.
Watch. This man is as petty as he is spiteful.
Plus we think these debt negotiations were Obama's first actual meetings he's ever attended. Did you get that feeling too?
