The Progressive Struggle

Bill Whittle nails it in his latest Firewall video about the state of our education:

The destruction of the education system will be the undoing of the American experiment.

Michael Brown, Feguson MO

A public service announcement from the Ushanka management.

This photo is floating around certain websites.  People are assuming the gentleman with the gun and wad of cash is the recently deceased Michael Brown from Feguson MO.

It is not him.

For the record:  That is Joda Cain, age 17.  Joda is alive and well.

Joda murdered Jacquelin Bell last year in Portland OR.  (Source)

The gentleman below flashing the gang sign for "Vipers" and wearing their gang color, red, is the Michael Brown who died last week after trying to take a police officer's firearm in Ferguson MO.

Confusing the two is an honest mistake.  They look alike, and no doubt share the same political ideology.

Please pass the word so no feelings get hurt.

That is the Ohio River from the Kentucky side looking NorthEast.

We finished Currency Wars by James Rickards today.  An outstanding book in our ongoing study of the gold standard.

Onto the next book....

Terror Week

Greg Gutfeld prepares us for Terror Week:

Oddly, there seems to be a really persistent thread that runs through all these terrors. Maybe they saw 'Jaws'? Say anything otherwise and that would simply be 'Islamophobic.

Last Place Doesn't Get Us Down

For the Cubs fans:

The last place Cubs (is it August already?!) hosted the first place Brewers on Monday at the center of the universe, Wrigley Field.

Fellow Cub fan, Mike Pullin, made the play of the day.  (No relation to Messrs Bartman or Sianis)

Here is the video.

Oh, by the way, next year is the year.

A More Enlightened Culture

Take a guess which country actively defends itself against foreign attacks, protects its borders, and allows its citizens to defend themselves against criminals and terrorists with automatic rifles.

Quote of the Day

Glenn Reynolds posts this video and asks:

Is there anything he said in that campaign that wasn’t a lie?

He's a Democrat and a Community Organizer.  Lying is what they do.

Wrapped Too Tight

We used to sell a lemon-flavored beverage called Leninade with our Commie Obama hats.

Zhukov and I even filmed our own Leninade Commercial on a Southern California beach!

It was cool. It was hip.

We ship a Leninade side placard with every hat purchase (while supplies last).

Sometimes a Leninade bottle would show up in one of our Cigar posts.

Greg Campbell saw Leninade for the first time in June.  He decided to sit in judgement at the Tea Party News Network, where he currently writes his column.

Read his reaction to this first encounter with Leninade: Unbelievable: Company Praises Genocidal, Oppressive Regime to Sell Soda.
Murderous oppression is not funny. It’s not chic; it’s not kitschy; it’s not a marketing ploy. However, one soda company apparently feels that the mass murder and oppression of millions of people in one of the most brutal, oppressive regimes in history is a great opportunity for marketing their sugary beverage.

Perhaps a soda company can be forgiven for a bit of oddball marketing-after all, American consumers are not without a sense of humor when it comes to commercials and ads.

However, with a hammer and sickle prominently displayed, it seems Leninade not only wishes to engage in wordplay, but is either actively promoting the former Soviet regime that murdered over 20 million (conservatively estimated) people  or are supremely ignorant of the hammer and sickle and the oppressive, genocidal regime that it represents.
I've had the honor to have met the founder of Leninade.  That's him on the left.

Danny has a great sense of humor, a Capitalist work ethic like no other, and has seen communism up close and personal on several trips to the Soviet Union as a child.  He runs his business, RealSoda, in Southern California where he supplies over 1500 bottled soda brands to businesses locally and nationwide.  For example, the Reagan Library in Simi Valley proudly stocks Leninade in its gift shop.  And best of all, Danny is the proud owner of our Commie Obama hat.

I'm guilty of making snap judgements too, although it has been a while.  But perhaps Greg, and his editors at the Tea Party News Network, can do a little research before they decide to accuse a business as one that "Praises Genocidal, Oppressive Regime to Sell Soda."

Liberal Pudding

"Liberal Pudding" is the title of the latest Intellectual Froglegs episode.

Excellent anti-commie intro, and great discussion about our founding fathers after the 12:00 mark.

Polishing a Turd

Check out this excellent PR video of North Korea's capital and richest city, Pyongyang.

Enter Pyongyang from JT Singh on Vimeo.

FYI - the film makers were not paid for this, but were allowed to film so they could apply their unique style.  From their narrative and FAQ's:
We were closely assisted by two guides from the National Tourism Administration, who helped us gain special access to locations and made sure that we followed all the rules. As is standard for all foreign visitors to the country, we were not allowed to shoot any construction sites, undeveloped locations or military personnel. Other than that we were given relatively free reign.
Why do they restrict visitors from taking photos if this is what they'll see?  This footage is very favorable and doesn't appear scripted or fake.  If this is what we'd see on a visit to the Communist country, why have they been hiding it?

The dirty secret about Pyongyang is that nearly every person you see in this video is aware that they live in the most backward of countries.  They are aware of the prosperity just a few miles South in South Korea.  They know their government lies to them.  And they know if they let on, they, and the next two generations of their entire family will be kept in the Gulag to cleanse their traitorous impulses while risking starvation and public execution.

Between 150,000 and 300,000 North Koreans live like animals in the Gulag system.  This reality reinforces the terror that keeps that short fat guy with the bad haircut in charge.  We can sit here in the US and say "I wouldn't put up with that shit," but we have not suffered generations of terror, indoctrination and oppression.

Maybe these guys can make similar videos of South Chicago on a summer weekend, or a North Detroit neighborhood, or of ISIS-controlled Iraq, or of Syria, or of our Southern border, or of Emory University Hospital where the first two Ebola patients on American soil are staying, or or or....
