I am white, so I am not qualified to discuss these race issues.  I am relieved, however, to see that because I am white I will not suffer from Obama's criminal amnesty scheme.

Really - what is the difference between 150 million people screaming "Give me free stuff," and 151 million?

And, having watched the black community vote 95-97% Democrat in the last two presidential elections, I'm struggling to find any sympathy for their new found extra-super-minority status.

I will predict this: I will have more to share when the first illegal immigrant, who was welcomed into this country with no papers, kills an American citizen.  Until then, I'll just keep making hats and playing Monopoly...

LUBBOCK, Texas—An illegal immigrant who was released by U.S. authorities with a Notice to Appear has been arrested for the alleged murder of a woman and kidnapping of children on U.S. soil. The alleged crimes occurred after the man was released.

The man, Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, entered the U.S. illegally with children and turned himself in to U.S. Border Patrol agents. He was processed and released, as are all illegal immigrants who come as unaccompanied minors or incomplete family units from Central America. The alien is from Honduras.

The AP identified the illegal alien as a “suburban New Orleans man” who faces a second-degree murder charge after his girlfriend was found bludgeoned to death in a bathtub in Louisiana.

Today's WSJ: The Impeachment Delusion.

One unfortunate reality of modern politics is the right-left mutually reinforcing media echo chamber. The most extreme voices on either side broadcast the most outrageous statements of the other side as a way to define their opposition and attract attention to themselves. This is the way to understand the flurry of fever-swamp chatter about impeaching President Obama.

Sarah Palin joined the impeachment calls on Tuesday, which could mean that the former Alaska Governor has been feeling neglected. She is following the talk radio hosts and obscure authors who are trying to increase audience share or sell books by posing as Mr. Obama's loudest opponents.

I couldn't be more happy to know I dumped the Journal a while ago. 

The Journal editorial board has always had a weak spot for immigration reform.  They have always been in the minority on the issue.  The worst for America, the better.  They are useful idiots to the crisis-as-a-means administration.  No doubt today's article is in response to the overwhelming outrage of the criminal act of opening our borders to the Free Stuff crowds of Guatemala. 

The Journal better get with the program.  I'm related to two life-long Democrat voters who'll be voting Republican in November because of two Democrat initiatives: Gay marriage and Obama's open borders policy.  They are starting to listen to the attention-seeking critics that the Journal abhors.  I've been telling them for years: "This isn't your father's Democrat Party.  Unless Karl Marx was your father."  They are starting to listen.

No book sales here.  Not attracting any attention either.  No, instead this is a blog by an American father, husband, patriot (with a slightly conservative slant).  Trying to silence or shame me for my criticism of the criminal acts of Obama and his ilk aint gonna work.

Why not an editorial with the truth about impeachment?  Obama is black.  A majority of elected officials suffer from white guilt.  The dear leader can do whatever he wants.  There will be no impeachment.

Portugal: A Lesson in Finance Media

Portugal's primary lender, Espirito Santo International SA (ESI) missed a loan payment this week.

Cue the doomsdayers in 5...4...3...2...  They 'told you so' for the past year as the Dow climbed to 17,000. 

Obama's media is reporting "accounting irregularities."  It is just a late payment.  Nothing to see here.

Here is what I know:  Both sources for economic news are wrong. 

I read both daily and try to find the truth.  I have yet to find a reasoned, objective and responsible source for financial news.  If such a source existed, professional investors wouldn't hedge.  Right?

The doomsdayers are in the Thesaurus everyday talking about "____ spiking" here or "bank contagion" there.  Here are some words, phrases and quotes found on Zerohedge's home page just now:

overall funk, global disaster, hopes fade, biggest miss, tumbles, gold surges, Europe is broken again, insolvency, whole charade, Europe is collapsing, contagion is spreading, record low, bubble, it's beyond a bubble, American police state, fiefdom, government tyranny, corruption and control...

Not the source for objectivity by any means, but the blind squirrel at ZeroHedge does find a nut every now and then.  As do the optimists in the mainstream finance outlets.

Here is a graph from MarketWatch.  Up is bad.  But 4%?  Up from 3.5%?  Not bad at all.  Not panic-worthy, assuming Portugal can afford to make its payments at 4%.  No one has the answer to that.

There is no media or blog source that can answer our questions accurately, because they'd all be dismissed as fools.  Who is going to answer these questions and retain credibility:  Is this decline reversible?  What is the point of no return?  What defines "collapse."  When will it happen?  What will it look like?  What are the likely (not desired) remedies the government will attempt?  Etc.

And here is the question du jour, albeit hypothetical: what will happen if it becomes fashionable for banks and nations to skip loan payments?

One little gem I found in my current studies of the gold standard:  Hong Kong has no debt. 

What a novel concept.
