Priorities at the BATF&E

Cadillac Jack sends:

Their priorities seem out of sync with the American citizen.

Not to worry.  The citizen will come around.

And a related item from Earl - Prancing of Elites.  It appears the BATF&E is in sync with the ones who sign their paychecks.

Cuomo

Megyn and Glenn (a hat owner) on Fox News discussing the latest self-inflicted lib scandal in New York:

Hat owner and UNC Professor Mike S. Adams shares his solution via FB:
Cuomo should not ask pro lifers to leave New York. Instead, he should have pro abortion choice residents wear a seal on their outer garments. The seal would allow them to move around freely and avail themselves of basic government services. Those lacking the seal would be allowed to remain in the state but would be subject stop and frisk procedures absent reasonable suspicion. The seal should be a scarlet "A" acknowledging the fact that abortion has provided women with a final victory over sexual repression.

Sorry to be a broken record here, but the Karl family fled California in 2008 because foresaw the damage of liberalism.

To my comrades in New York: we are coming to the point where I will not feel any sympathy for you if you choose to stay in enemy territory.

The Bezos Media Strategy Emerges

This is the most defining signal yet that the corrupt soulless liberal progressive communist media has hit bottom.

There is only one way to go from here!

Legal Insurrection is reporting that well-renowned conservative blogger, The Volokh Conspiracy, has partnered with Bezo-owned Washington Post.  The blog of law professors will exist behind the WP paywall.  They'll continue their blogging, and retain full rights over their content.

It appears conservative bloggers are in, and lib Journolisters are out.  Congrats to the Volokh team!

Our fingers are crossed that Mr. Bezo will someday realize his media empire should sell hats....

UPDATED 12:15:

Same story now posted at Breitbart.

UPDATED 6:30pm:

Another sign that the liberal progressive communist media is in backtracking mode.

Congressman Trey Gowdy holds a press conference to ASK the members of media questions.

Brilliant.  Lets do this from now on!

Meme of the Day

FB Comrade Matt posted this one today on Facebook.

For those smart enough to avoid Facebook, it is really just a Meme generator.  It's fun, but I still find it creepy that some government employee is watching me scroll through the site instead of doing something important, like planning their next vacation on my dime.

A hearty Ushanka Tip to the person who came up with this.  Just brilliant.

Precious Metals: My Lessons Learned UPDATED

This video explains my Obama Cuss Jar project, my investments in gold and silver coins, the lessons I’ve learned about precious metal investing, suggested and trusted sources for more information, and my advice to others who are considering investing in gold or silver.

UPDATED 1pm:

I found a video where the silver investor says the average ratio in the past 23 years has been 66:1.  Be sure to investigate the real ratio and its history before you buy!

UPDATED 1.28 10:30am:

YouTuber TheMicMac88 has done some ratio videos and I've communicated with him via YouTube.  I asked him if he could validate my suggestion to trade on ratio targets.  In his latest video he has corrected the information that I used in the video above where I said the average ratio is 50:1.  He confirms that is true over the past 100 years, but that the past 24 years it has averaged 66:1.  He argues that silver has been losing value to gold over time, and ratio trades should only occur at extremes such as 90:1 or 40:1, and that one should always hold onto some gold.  Good advice on better data than I had just a week ago.

Police State UPDATED

Here are two stories that suggest the image above is dead on.  (I think that far into the future, this image will be the defining image of our dear leader's administration.)

Some suggest our government, that we pay into and trust to protect us, has actually turned on us.

Story One: The Target/Neimann Marcus Hacker.

Neimann Marcus has determined this hacker, located in Russia, first got into their system back in July.  According to MarketWatch, they just plugged the holes this week - 7 months later.  Neimann Marcus had to hire their own investigator to determine the scope of the attack and to stop the attack.

Story Two:  Blaine Cooper.

Blaine lives in Arizona and is one of those people who has detected a pattern of police abuses that suggest a "Police State" or a spreading tyranny.  He said so in a recent Facebook comment and was called by the local police 2 hours later.  He was asked to come into the police station and discuss his post with the FBI.

No actual criminal act, nor intent.  Just exercising his freedom of speech.  Here is a video he posted.

Thoughts:

Both stories have more details, so click over to judge for yourself.  There may be information that may suggest why our multi-billion dollar NSA infrastructure failed to detect the Russian hacker, or why that same infrastructure triggered an alert the moment a comment was made.

If I were Blaine, I'd ask the FBI to show me scientific data that suggests my opinions predict criminal behavior.  If they can show such evidence, I would then, and only then, fully cooperate.  I'd also wear my Commie Obama hat.

I think the staff at the NSA/DHS and I would agree that they need a clear, obvious and recent case where they actually saved American lives with their total eavesdropping.  Because today, with the little that I know and absent a NSA-specific victory, I'm leaning towards the assumption that their only purpose is tyranny.

Question:

Did you read this post before the DHS?

UPDATED 1.21.14 Noon:

A new video out by Reason about the Fullerton CA police beating and death of Kelly Thomas.  Kudos to Kelly's father for his focus on the next step: the civil trial.  Sir, do not let up.

Honest to God: I never thought I'd be posting stories like this when I started Ushanka 8 years ago.

Law Enforcement organizations across America are turning away a core supporting demographic: the law-abiding civic-minded citizen.

How does one feel compelled to help their local police and sheriff departments with volunteer and charity work when stories like the Kelly Thomas torture are becoming more common?

Yes, a few bad cops in Fullerton went too far.  They are not sorry - they are only sorry they got caught on video.

And yes, most cops do a great service every day in our communities.  (Can't say that enough.)  So where is the problem?

From this outsider's vantage point with few insider sources, I point the blame at the upper management of these organizations who put protecting bad cops and internal politics over serving their communities.  They no longer seem to have set standards.  They circle the wagons and develop their standards after someone goes to the morgue.

Quote of the Day

Hat owner and comrade Captain Capitalism explores why Detroit is reporting 7% growth after losing 20% of its population.

Did all the losers move out, or are the Detroit economists engaging in dishonest practices?

The Captain unleashes the "T" word:
This is a major concern I have with the economics industry. Since it is largely populated by academians and government economists, I don't trust them to be honest and employ the best methodologies when measuring the economy.  I do trust them, however, to lie and taint their methodologies to have a political bias to favor more socialism.
I trust them to lie too.

PBS: North Korea

If you have an hour, PBS/Fontline has posted their video, Secret State of North Korea

Some new smuggled video of absolute poverty,  up-to-date info on the new pot-bellied leader, a review of the regime's latest propaganda and interviews with defectors.

Defector, rationalizing his escape:  "It is better to die, than live like an insect."

Another defector: "In North Korea, I never smiled."

There are also some promising trends.

An estimated 1 million North Koreans listen to South Korean and Chinese radio.  Movies and tv shows are smuggled into North Korea on thumb drives.  Despite the increase in gulag incarcerations and executions since Kim Jung Un has taken over, the populace is restless.  Private enterprise is flourishing - an overt challenge to the Communist Utopia that is "just around the corner."

Check out the insubordination, caught on hidden camera, between a black marketeer and a soldier at the 45:30 mark.  She pushes him and calls him an "asshole."  Damn, you go girl!
