Ebola 4-Pack. Final Post #22

A series of image posts with four Ebola images each.  These are images found at the blogs at the left in our Blogroll, images shared with us over FB, or screenshots.  New posts will be published at noon everyday until I run out of images.

The date range for these images: Nov 1 - Nov 4.

That's it.  86 images in all.

Everybody's attention is on the GOP 2014 victory which begs the question: Are Ebola and the GOP blowout related?

Tribute Post: Rob O'Neill

Navy Seal Rob O'Neill has been identified, or self-identified, as the one who capped Osama.

His story is coming out, and so far it is quite a story.  He was involved in the Marcus Luttrel (Lone Survivor) rescue, the Somali pirate hostage rescue and the Osama raid in Pakistan.  No doubt he has more stories, many of which he cannot share.

This is a ordinary American who chose an extra-ordinary life.  He competed against thousands to get to the tip of the spear.  He survived 300 battles to stay at the tip.

The Navy is giving him a hard time for telling his story.  Yes, it is in bad form, generally, but I think he's due an exception.  9-11 was the most traumatic event of my life, so far.  The War on Terror is a just cause and I am grateful to Rob, and every other member of the US military, for doing their part in it.

The executioner of the 9-11 leader and financier should be allowed to tell his story so long as 1) he is fine with his identity being known, and 2) does not betray his fellow troops or classified mission details.  Rob O'Neill appears to share these values, and his story reflects positively on all who served and continue to serve.  I think the political hacks in the upper ranks of the DOD should f**k off and leave him alone.

Rob, thank you for your service.  I hope to shake your hand someday.

UPDATED 1:30pm:

I've been told by a former SEAL that O'Neill has disclosed some information that, while not necessarily classified, is in poor judgement.

Further, I saw this NBC article linked by Drudge that exposes some questions about what happened at the Osama compound.  A minor disagreement between two professionals, but now a public one that stains both of their reputations and distracts from otherwise incredible careers.  Obviously this is what the policy is meant to prevent.

I stand by my praise for this man and his career of service, but wanted to correct the record.

UPDATED 9:30pm:

My comrade from the 1:30pm update was correct - O'Neill's behavior is not appreciated within the SEAL community.  SOFREP has posted the news that the senior officer and senior enlisted within the SEAL chain of command have formalized their feelings about O'Neill's recent press, and his expected interview on Fox News.  It says:
In a letter signed by both the senior commander and enlisted man of Naval Special Warfare Command, the SEAL leadership emphasized that the majority of SEALs spend each day living up to the label “quiet professionals.” Unspoken is the implication that the former SEAL, who is in fact, former Red Squadron SEAL Robert O’Neill, is seeking notoriety for his own story.

The point they make is that it took so much more than the final trigger pull to kill Bin Ladin, so why should one SEAL assume the moniker, “The One Who Killed bin Ladin?”
At risk of offending the Special Ops folks that may come across this post, allow me to weigh in here as a civilian who once wore both enlisted and commissioned rank, and who was assigned to Special Operations Command for 6 years:

Get over it, and get over yourselves.

Tell me, do you know who this is?

Hint: He is an American hero, like O'Neill.  He is one of many, but he is the face of one of the top military operations in WWII, just as O'Neill is the face of the Osama raid - like it or not.  He didn't seek notoriety, just like O'Neill didn't.  This man's operation had little impact on the enemy's war-fighting capabilities, just like O'Neill's.  But his mission energized our nation at a very low point, just like O'Neill's.

The line above that says "it took so much more than the final trigger pull" is pure Bullshit from political hacks who have lost sight of the mission, but have their cush jobs and fat pensions in clear sight.  They'll tell us that they stay in their jobs to keep stability among the troops - even keel - so to speak.  But while they salute a fraud and execute his orders to remove patches, lower standards, and lose site of who the enemy is, they lose their moral authority.

(I wouldn't say this if there had been one or more resignations in the past six years, but there haven't been.  The upper ranks of the military have been cleansed of the war fighters.  This has long been the truth.  All who remain are those enjoying the perks, the authority, and the promised pensions.)

Hundreds, if not thousands, made this man's mission possible in WWII, yet few know any of the other names.  The Americans who built the planes, ferried the planes to the launch spot, rescued the pilots after the mission, etc., were all heroes.  Just like the men on the Osama raid.

Bottom line: our nation's biggest missions - successes (Doolittle, above) and failures (Pickett, and later Custer) - are celebrated.  And the men behind them are pulled into the spot light.

If O'Neill has released any secret information or the names of any teammates, tell me and I'll correct this post.  Otherwise, cut him some slack.

The pull into the spotlight was stronger than any push he gave himself.  And the mission, regardless of the specifics, was fully staffed with heroes that all deserve the credit that O'Neill is now taking on their behalf.

I stand by this tribute post and salute Rob O'Neill, and all of his team mates, who have taken up arms for this country.

UPDATED 11.7.14 9am:

I just re-read my post above.  Some broad-brush stokes up there.  A lot of black and white.  I like it.  I'm going to re-re-read it.

Just some context for those who haven't read my previous posts on the topic of military resignations - here and here.  I haven't told my own story yet, but the thoughts above come from my experience with fuzzy standards and career-building posturing from senior enlisted (E-9) and commissioned (O-5 & O-6).  Maybe someday I'll share.  Maybe when someone offers to buy the drinks.

UPDATED 11.8.14 9am:

HavokJournal has the best non-tribute post.  I still stand by my post above.

However, if it is true O'Neill is actually complaining he should get a pension after 16 years of service....  Well, I got no words for that.

2014 Election: Gun Control

First, our quote of the day by Real Science
Bitter clingers shown in red below.

Now for the truth.

The two governors who voted for the most oppressive gun-control laws in the past two years were re-elected.  Anybody telling you the 2014 election had a pro-gun message is full of s**t.

Colorado Democrat Governor John Hickenlooper was re-elected on Tuesday.  He signed the magazine limit (15) which led to Magpul leaving the state and two Democrat state representatives being recalled.

Connecticut Democrat Governor Dan Malloy signed an assault weapons ban and magazine limit (10) last year.  He was re-elected on Tuesday.

Some advice for the freedom-loving folks in Colorado and Connecticut:  GTFO.

2014: The Black Vote

Normally there is nothing to say about the voting habits of America's blacks.  95% Democrat.  97% Democrat.  It isn't a voting demographic.  It is an agreement.

But something happened in Tuesday's election that suggests some open-mindedness within the black community.  (Or, so many black Democrat voters stayed home that it skewed the percentages.)  I'll write the rest of this post as if it is the former.

Look at these numbers, shared by Gateway Pundit:
Gateway posted this table to draw attention to the Asian vote.  Obama got 71% of the Asian vote just two years ago.

One possible reason for this change could be that Asians bought into the race BS in 2012 and don't today.  It is likely that most Asians realize that "Race," when discussed in Democrat circles has nothing to do with their race, but only that of blacks and hispanics.  Asians, including Indians (red dot, not feather), don't qualify for Affirmative Action and special handouts.  They are lumped in with the crackers.

Gateway may have identified the biggest move in racial politics, but I think the changes in the black vote deserve attention.  97% to 89% is a huge move in two years.  But wait - there's more!

Check out the WSJ: Democratic Coalition Frays Around Edges in Midterm Elections.  They tell us  that Ohio's black vote was only 75% Democrat.  25% of Ohio's black voters voted to re-elect John Kasich as governor
Democrats, meanwhile, couldn’t motivate black voters in certain states to duplicate their 2010 turnout, let alone the historic 2008 and 2012 levels that propelled Mr. Obama. Ohio’s GOP Gov. John Kasich, at the same time, won the support of a quarter of African-American voters—compared with 10% for GOP candidates nationally.
Worth posting FYI.  I'll celebrate when this is proven to be a trend rather than a one-time event.

Condoleezza Rice was asked her opinion on this topic - The Hill:
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday slammed Democrats who sought to use race against Republicans in the midterm elections, saying they were offensive and out of touch.

“The idea that you would play such a card and try fearmongering among minorities just because you disagree with Republicans, that they are somehow all racists, I find it appalling, I find it insulting,” she said on Fox News.

Nice Job GOP. Now Get To Work.

No gloating here at Ushanka.  We have MSNBC running in the Commie Obama Hat factory today.

UPDATED 10:30am:

Selected comments pulled from FB Comrades:
I see no reason for zero to not LOVE last nights results;
It was all about HIM!

[Re: Wendy Davis loss, with 39% of the vote]  I'd feel bad, but she was only a clump of tissue...

The Democrats suck so obviously badly that even illegal aliens are voting mostly Republican

For the first time in a very long time, I'm watching the news, and I'm smiling. We have to use this power to turn our country around, and pull it out of the gutter. This has not been the country I know and love. No more bowing down. Let's do this!!!

wonders if KFC serves any crow? I think Michelle and Barack could use a hearty serving.

So many of my neighbors' lights are on at midnight, apparently people are watching these election results!

We're on the eve of destruction. Destruction of the enemy among us! Lace up your boots, warriors!!! Fix bayonets!!!

[Re: Sandra Fluke losing in CA]  Appears their political lives have been terminated.

[Re: Mia Love win in UT]  Tell me again how RACIST & SEXIST Republicans are!!

I say a huge part of the massive Republican landslide last night was backlash against Democrat race-agitators who fomented riots and mayhem in Ferguson and elsewhere. People are just fed up with constant black terrorism and constant, pervasive hostility toward whites.

I sure wish I could feel more optimistic but I don't trust those communists that have engrained themselves into our political system. Just because you put a muzzle on a biting dog doesn't mean he won't piss on your leg if you turn your back on him!

What a night! Epic repudiation of socialism. Hope for America...

Ebola 4-Pack. Post #20

Ebola Gag Order? UPDATED and BUMPED

[orig post 11.1.14 10am]

Suspend logic for a moment and allow me to suggest the media is complicit in liberal politics.  I know I'm asking a lot here...

Last night at 6pm Gateway Pundit shares a news story carried by a single MSM source, The Oregonian, that a Liberian woman in Portland has been admitted with Ebola symptoms.

Now, 15 hours later, there is no new news on her diagnosis.  Why?

I suspect the white house has issued orders to their sycophants in the MSM to hold all Ebola news until they have a chance to review it, edit it, and prepare their response to it.  Why these orders?
1) There is an election in four days, and any new Ebola cases will negatively effect Democrats. (This deserves a post all to itself!)
2) The white house is using the excuse of 'containing panic' to force the MSM outlets to delay any/all Ebola news.  Some in the MSM outlets are blind to the fact that this is damage control rather than concern for Americans.  Others know and are complicit.
3) Short of closing the border and stopping all travel to/from W. Africa, the administration has no cards to play here.  Every new case of Ebola further exposes their self-inflicted impotence.
I further suspect that the rules for news containment will change starting Tuesday night after the polls close.  This will be proof of my theory above - that if Ebola symptoms lead to a diagnosis in less than 15 hours we were either being lied to, or deceived, prior to the election.

Why the delays in diagnosis?  For one, did you know that only the CDC can give an Ebola diagnosis?  It is convenient to have a single source of news, and that source being a government entity, if one were to want withhold information from the public.  Shipping a blood sample to the CDC for testing and diagnosis requires 4-6 hours.  By midnight last night the CDC knew whether the Portland patient has Ebola.

Why would the CDC be the only source for Ebola testing?
1) They have the only lab that is secure enough to handle the diseased blood?  I would call BS on this.  Even if this strain is airborne, ie coughing, a blood smear on a slide is not going to have the airborne capabilities.
2) They have the only microscope that can pick up the Ebola signature above?  I call BS here too.
3) They have a test that is so rare or expensive, or requires advanced procedures or expertise, that it is not possible to distribute to the nation's hospitals?   BS.
4) To keep the CDC relevant and thus funded, and to control information.  That's a Bingo!

My suggestion for hospitals across the country:  Do your own blood test and post any Ebola diagnosis to your website.  Use the Reagan communication principle: talk over their heads to the people.  Gateway Pundit, Ushanka, and others will take it from there.

If I'm correct here, the media elites, along with their Democrat Party masters, have prioritized information control over your life in order to limit damages in Tuesday's election.

---

There are two potential flaws to the analysis above:
1) The patient could still be in a stage of the disease where proof is impossible, and
2) The "4-6 hour" diagnosis timeline may be wrong.
If it takes longer, I'd ask how much of that longer timeline is bureaucracy and how much is science?  Because a disease with a death rate like Ebola's deserves a faster timeline.  Faster than 4 hours, in my opinion.

And if Obama, CDC Director Freiden, or the Ebola Czar agreed that it should be quicker, we would have heard them say that by now.
UPDATED 11.1.14 6pm:

24 hours since the first report.  No new status.  No new reports.  Shhhh...

A comrade, hat owner and physician corrected one item in my original post.  The Dr. says it is doubtful that a hospital would want to broadcast an Ebola case, as they would lose substantial business with their out-patient/elective surgeries.  I did not consider that.  I stand corrected.

UPDATED 11.2.14 9:12pm:

51+ hours later, the only update is from the family who the Liberian woman was staying with.  They say she no longer has a fever.  The patient is still being treated in isolation.  No official statement.  No genuine curiosity from the MSM.

Maybe the CDC doesn't work weekends.  It is a government operation.

UPDATED 11.3.14 9am:

The Oregonian reported the Liberian woman does not have Ebola about an hour after my update last night.

That is good news, but does not negate the suspicions here that there was a gag order on Ebola news.  Does it take 4-6 hours to diagnose, or does it take 52 hours?  I won't expect a straight answer until after the election.

UPDATED and BUMPED 11.4.14 7:30am:

ZH has the answer:
The Associated Press and other press outlets have agreed not to report on suspected cases of Ebola in the United States until a positive viral RNA test is completed.
What else have they "agreed not to report?"

Gateway Pundit's post on this Gag Order.

Election Day

Election Day for Republicans.  Democrats vote tomorrow!

Today I will be voting Republican.  Apparently, others will be too.

The Republican strategy from 2008 is expected to succeed today.  The strategy: let everything go to shit, ignore the patriots in the Tea Party groups, back RINO losers for nomination, and 51% will - eventually - vote us back into power.

If the predictions are true, I'll be celebrating tonight.  Then tomorrow, it is back to work fighting against the establishment GOP to drive the Party to the right, to restore the will to fight, enthusiastically embrace and defend conservative principles, and replace elected officials who betray their constituents - both RINOs and all Democrats - with hard-headed, stubborn, extremist conservatives.

And maybe along the way I'll sell a hat or two to like-minded comrades.

UPDATED 11.4.14 12:30pm:

Voting today reminded me of public school.  I just looked for the "Republican" label, or the "NO" box, then just had to color in the box without going outside the lines.  My teachers would be proud of me today.  Maybe they'd even give me a gold star...

I wanted to point you to a Townhall article that was written for today.  It is worth all the pop-up ads to read in full.

Shawn Mitchell posted some thoughts about election day, and skewers the media and those who choose not to vote.  I post not to be rude to my Libertarian comrades, but to further document my correct assessment back in 2012 when I began to look closely at the Libertarian movement.  My instincts are proving correct now that others are sharing their analysis.

Media More Commie than Obama:

Barack Obama has shafted American fortunes, prospects, well being, and hope for the future more than Liberals ever imagined Bush did.

The only thing that stands between us and a 70-30 Senate is a major media and online media complex that is even more commie than Barack dares to be on his most ambitious days, and that feeds denial and nonsense to the gullible, 24/7.

---

In this age when Leftism shows its totalitarian face, when there is no doubt they would put any one of us in jail if they could, I cannot fathom the preening, indulgent purity of the people who brag they will not vote for imperfect Republicans.

I don't comprehend the libertarians that condemn Reagan. Did anyone ever push boundaries harder than that great man? If you aren't satisfied with Reagan’s efforts, then just procure your dynamite and get on with it.

Ya know what, LibertZealots? I don't mind your fervor. I love your fervor. Come join the fight. Lets win some hearts and minds.

But here's what I do mind: your facile condemnation of candidates and electeds who are in the arena and who don't meet your purity test.

Is the answer so obvious? Good! Then run for office! Try your message out with your neighbors and fellow citizens. Get on the stump. Spread the word and get elected!  Do your neighbors buy?

Or shut up and enlist in the hard work of informing your neighbors. Sick of your futile condemnation. Help change the playing field or quit already with criticizing the players.

Libertarians: Americans with a strong sense of the Constitution and a desire to shift to a literal Constitutional state; who desire changes that would never pass any congress, and thus require the suspension of the Constitution and some form of dictatorship to enact said changes.
