Putin and Mother Russia

ViceNews has some great footage of Putin declaring victory in Crimea in this short 5-min video.

Bonus features include:
  * A familiar song sung by sailors,
  * A building with a hammer and sickle on it,
  * A poster of Stalin,
  * A ushanka,
  * Russian soldiers marching in formation with rifles,
  * And a stereotypical round-faced old lady (with unflattering growths on her face).

PJ O'Rourke has a great article explaining Putin's future demise.  If you agree that history repeats itself, O'Rourke makes the case that Putin will be doomed by Russian history.

My thoughts:
Putin had a choice to go with his Nationalist Authoritarianism.  It was the easy option.  Russia is blessed with rich natural resources.  Another option would have been to share those riches with its citizens in a way similar to Saudi Arabia.  He could have chosen to establish a rule of law that would attract foreign investment and foreign depositors, and put Russia's banking industry on the same level as Singapore.  Further, he could have used these quality-of-life incentives to break the country's abuses in alcohol and abortion.  Combined, he could have made Russia a premier tourist and retirement destination.

Instead, following his impulses from a thug-background in the KGB, he has chosen the Communist principles of expansionism, theft, agitation and nationalism.  The only people that inspires are those stuck there as citizens.

Enjoy your nationalism there, comrades.

Mother's Day Cigar

Romeo Y Julieta.

I'm halfway through Keith C. Blackmore's horror book, The Missing Boatman.  It is wonderful so far, but the horror is pretty mild and I'm doing a lot more laughing than I had expected.  I've linked to Blackmore before in my Top Zombie Books post, and the praise I had for him there carries over to this book.  This author has a great imagination and is an excellent writer.  If you want to beat inflation, buy the book on Kindle for $2.99 and enjoy yourself.

I took a break at mid-cigar to catch-up on some Ushanka reading.  First was Ann Barnhardt's latest post where she commented on this arrest of William Baer at a parent meeting with school administrators:

Ann:
It has to be said:  what kind of parent would send their child to a public school today in the first place?  I’m dead serious here.  Public school is handing your children over to Marxist, satanic psychopaths...

The most terrifying thing about that video is the fact that NOBODY did ANYTHING to stop than man – who had done nothing wrong – from being arrested.  In fact, they all just sat there trying desperately to pretend that they weren’t seeing any of it.  THAT is what was so chilling.  All of the men (and some of the women) should have leapt to their feet and formed a perimeter around the man.  Make that fat, conscienceless, miserable tick of a wannabe Stormtrooper understand that if he wants to go there, shit can most definitely get REAL.  But no.  No, no.  That roomful of cowards just sat there and watched.
Why are we only hearing these opinions from one person, when the outrage should come from all?

That may just sound like a rhetorical question, but this video was so disturbing that I pushed away from the keyboard for a couple days.  A school administrator can order an officer to arrest a parent?  There was a day, not too long ago, when an officer would laugh at such an order.  I have no doubt there are many officers out there who still will, but I suggest you consider the following:  it is government vs. the people now.  That school administrator and that police officer have common goals: retain their authority, milk the system for pay and pension, and intimidate the public from questioning their actions or turning off the tax-payer spigot.

Next, the WSJ's Daniel Henninger wrote on the 7th, Obama Unleashes the Left.  He reviews the recent rejection of conservative thoughts by the open-minded college administrators at Rutgers, Azusa Pacific, and Oberlin.  And he warns of what will occur due to the Montana documents - recent new policy directives that claim they are "entirely consistent with the First Amendment:"
First Amendment? It's more like a fatwa. The Obama administration has issued a federal hunting license to deputize fanatics at any university in America. They will define who gets accused, and on what basis.
He closes with:
If it's possible for the left to have its John Birch moment, we're in it. Wave goodbye to cardboard civility.
What is a John Birch Society?  (wikipedia)

To demonstrate that I still have a lot to learn, I do not know anything about the John Birch Society (JDS).  I remember coming in contact with some John Birch types at Cincinnati Tea Parties in 2009, but I recall not finding a reason to learn more.  (They came across like Libertarians.)  The whole point of the Tea Party for me was the uprising of individuals in the name of three shared principles: limited government, reduced spending and strong national security.  (These are still my priorities, I remain independent, and I have not joined any group including any of the Tea Party organizations.)

So, while I do not understand Henninger's close, I have discovered the following:

They were founded on anti-communist principles.

They want to "end the Fed."

They are seen as "extreme right wing" and "radical right wing" (by whoever makes up those labels).

William F. Buckley's objection to JDS was their elaborate organization into cells of no more than 20, and their aggressive tactics to reverse communist influences in the government, specifically in education and their selection of textbooks.  (See William Baer above...)

Here is a screenshot of the JDS Issues webpage:

Yep, like you, I saw Agenda 21 too.  That is some Alex Jones-like conspiracy stuff there.  I haven't dug into this page, but I already know that the first two "issues" disqualify the organization as one I would consider joining.

On a positive note, they do not have an issue called Legalize Marijuana.  So maybe grouping them with Libertarians is unfair....

The two areas I'd like to know more is:
1) What recent progress have they made in their anti-communist pursuits?
2) What anti-communist plans do they have for the future?

I'd appreciate comments if you can explain the Henninger close, or answer either of these two questions?

Ahhh, Love

Shame on you if you're shocked by today's Drudge page.

You didn't see this coming when Rush was run out of sportscasting?  When NFL players wore pink?  Or when Costas shared his gun-control opinions?  The NFL is a political entity disguising itself - poorly - as a professional sports organization.

Based on my research (see Library at left), we have to go a bit further down this slippery slope before we can turn the corner.  The real question is: Will we?

You can cancel your cable subscription to do your part to cut off the funding to the NFL and others who want to rid our society of family and religious values.  That's a start.  But be forewarned, don't express your disgust publicly.  The hunt is on for those who voice their opposition to the Liberal Progressive Communist agenda being forced on America.

A FB Comrade shared this photo with us.

The good news is, if she gets the Full Communism she seeks:

1) She'll lose some weight, and
2) The other girls won't wear makeup either.

As for the "value" of a "fair society," she should expect the state to set that "value."

UPDATED and BUMPED 5.11.14:

You could argue that this is catching on.  I'd suggest it was there all the time.

Hard Work is the Answer

Adam Corolla:

Any chance we can get Daily Kos and Mother Jones and the other liberal sites that cater to the mentally ill-equipped basement dwelling bed-wetters to post this video?  Hmmm?

I highly recommend Adam's book, Not Taco Bell Material, and his movie, The Hammer.

2014 State Rankings

These lists of state rankings are always fascinating.  We are lucky to live in a country where states have the ability to cater to their specific needs and create the climate ideal for their citizens.

Here are the state "Best Business Rankings" for 2014, from Chief Executive:

As a business man in SW Ohio, I'm always interested in what our neighboring states are doing to make themselves more attractive to businesses.  Indiana is always near the top and this year at #6 suggests they aren't doing anything liberal to drive business away.  Indiana's biggest drawback is they lack the talent.  I'd like to think they will get an influx of top talent when Chicago becomes unbearable.

Kentucky, just a few miles away is at #25.  That is unchanged from previous years, albeit from lists that were compiled by other sources that we trust.

The biggest change is Ohio at #27.  That is a huge leap from previous lists where we've seen the state range from 35 to 45.  Every list has it's own criteria and it is safe to say every list has its flaws.  But this dramatic move for Ohio is good.

Gov. Kasich has made some solid moves for the better up in Columbus, and in my opinion as someone who doesn't pay too much attention to state politics, he deserves the most credit.

I'd also point to the tea party groups in Ohio who I've come to know are dedicated and aggressive.  Have you seen my videos from the Cincinnati Tea Parties from March 2009 and April 2009?  Two of my best videos I think.

A Lost Castro Interview

90 Miles posted this video of a lost Castro interview from 1959.

Notice the Cuban dictator will not yet admit he is a Communist.  They all deny it until their power is secure.

Zhukov Selfie?

Zhukov takes a picture of Zhukov?

Ushanka's Agent Zhukov is in Mother Russia and snapped this photo of General Zhukov at a Victory Day Parade.

Those folks were the Communist Party contingent in the parade.

And here Agent Zhukov is holding Comrade OldNFO's challenge coin/poker chip on the Neva river with the Peter Paul fortress in the back ground.

1970's McDonalds Prices

Gather 'round kids.  Let's see what forty years of regulations, minimum-wage hikes, piss-poor monetary policies and deficit-spending bring us.  Here is a McDonalds menu from the 1970's, shared by FB Comrade Donald:

Our Inflation article is a bit old now, but the lessons and predictions are timeless so long as we elect decision makers who are incompetent, criminal or both.
