Capitalism
We love capitalism. We love capitalism as much as Obama hates it.
Want us to prove it? Buy our Commie Obama hat!
We are big fans of Steve Jobs (our tribute posts to him: first and second) and of Apple products. We know he's laughing today.
When they launched the iPhone in July 2007, Research In Motion's (Nasdaq: RIMM) Blackberry was the dominant smartphone.
Research In Motion (RIM) is in the news today. TechCrunch:
Imagine if someone came out with a better Commie Obama hat. Would we sit on our hands, or would we scramble to up-stage the new competitor?
Maybe a silk-lined Commie Obama hat?
Or a pink Commie Michelle Obama hat?
Why didn't RIM scramble back in 2006 when the iPhone rumors started? No doubt the company's board meetings were full of "we're going to beat Apple" and "we're putting our smartest people on this" and "we'll leverage our market position to expand market share." Blah Blah Blah.
RIM has lost 84% of its value since July 2007:

Research In Motion (RIM) is in the news today. TechCrunch:
After a rough day yesterday, RIM’s stock opened 10 percent lower today, trading at $10.05 at the opening bell. The stock price briefly recovered but it’s on a steady downward trend as of the writing of this post. If this slide continues, the stock is set to hit a low not seen since 2003.
Trading of RIM shares was halted for 15 minutes yesterday in order to issue a what the company called a “business update“. CEO Thorsten Heins detailed RIM’s recent challenges, and also explained that the company is employing the help of Royal Bank of Canada and J.P. Morgan to evaluate financial strategies. The company also warned that it will report a loss for the fiscal quarter ending on June 2. This came on the heels of report that states RIM is set to lay off a major chunk of its workforce.
Things at RIM are set to get worse before they get better. It seems nearly every week another high-placed executive is leaving the company. The RIM of the future (if there is a future for RIM) will look nothing like the RIM of the past.
I still believe RIM can recover. The company has a good chunk of the enterprise smartphone market and the products in the pipeline are very compelling. However, RIM needs to make it through these dark days first and hiring bankers is a good start.

BigFurHat, slang for the Ushanka hat and the moniker of America's top conservative Photoshop wizard, has just launched his own site - BigFurHat.com.
"Edgier content" is the warning. Just in time for the November elections - which will drive all thing edgy.
BigFurHat, or BFH, started his community organizing at The People's Cube (source of pic above), and honed his graphic talents at IOwnTheWorld (IOTW).
BFH has been a great friend to Ushanka and we wish him luck with his new site. And once again, we thank God he's on our side!

Yahoo! News?
This screenshot from Yahoo helps us with our decision in November.
First - because Our Dear Leader has nothing to run on, Yahoo! is there to give us a reason. If you use a cell phone, you must be a Democrat!
Second - Yahoo! keeps us up-to-date on the activities of our impeached President. For those not paying attention - which is everybody who depends on Yahoo for their news - that impeached President was our last Democrat president. Hmmm...
Expect the media commissars to set the bar lower as the election nears....

Brett Kimberlin - Lawfare
Brett Kimberlin is a convicted perjurer and domestic terrorist. He is also a lawyer and liberal activist who has filed over 100 lawsuits against critics.
He is actively intimidating conservative bloggers - except this one.
Maryland law enforcement is aware of his activities but has not done anything to protect bloggers in that state.
One blogger is now fighting false assault charges and had to fight having his identity and many personal facts published in public records. Another blogger has moved out of Maryland.
Brett Kimberlin is using "lawfare" to harass and intimidate political opponents. He needs to be brought to justice.
Fellow conservative bloggers are writing about Brett and asking some good questions.

TSA
Coincidence that our elite TSA agents share the same color scheme as the former Soviet Union KGB?
It seems blue is the color to wear when a government wants to place their hands on their citizens.

MA Senatorial candidate Elizabeth Warren's savage ancestors had it all wrong.
If you want it to rain, just have Karl sit outside and light a cigar. A CAO Brazilia did the trick today.
We were under an umbrella, so you liberals will have to look elsewhere for a laugh. We enjoyed our cigar, and it'll take a lot more than rain to get this comrade upset!
We are reading the Kindle version of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead. And lov'in it.

Quotes of the Day
Tam, re: NATO meeting in Chicago and the NATO mission:
Robb Allen responds to those who want to limit access to mineral resources:
And BorePatch makes an early prediction for November, with map:
I mean, seriously, if the Frogs and Jerries are still worried about Tsar Vladimir I, let them cut a few social programs and reactivate an armored division or two on their own dime, but it's been a long time since the most crucial U.S. foreign policy flashpoint on the globe was someplace where the street signs bore charming Gothic script. Let Europe look to its own defenses.
Robb Allen responds to those who want to limit access to mineral resources:
My religion offers salvation, theirs offers starvation. And they know this. And they want this. Not for themselves, mind you – they’ll be rationalizing away on how they require a better standard of living so as to ensure you do not. They would prefer (other) humans die off en masse…
And BorePatch makes an early prediction for November, with map:
Not to put too fine a point on it, but there is no upside for Obama at this point, only minimizing the loss. A 297 to 241 loss might preserve his chances to run again; a 382 to 156 loss will leave him washed up. But there really isn't any path to victory for him - after all, Mussolini could beat him this year.

Greece - The Slippery Slope
It wasn't supposed to happen until after the November elections.
If you knew your money was going to lose 50% of its value by next week if it stays in the bank (and retirement accounts), would you withdraw it?
In the case of retirement accounts: could you withdraw it?
The photo above shows one line outside a Greek bank. This is what it looks like when a massive 0.75% of total assets are removed from bank accounts.
Because that is all that was removed in yesterday's "bank run".
What will 5% look like?
Further:
How will Greeks react when their 4000-euro/month salary converts to a 4000-drachmas (Greek currency) salary? When their standard of living that required 4000 euros/month now requires 8000 drachmas/month. Will they be bitter?
If Greece leaves the Euro as it most likely will, all Euros in Greek banks will be converted to drachmas and the expected loss of purchase power is expected at around 50%. Nobody is arguing this!
The stories of well-dressed and well-groomed dumpster-divers in Greece have been around for months. It is only those who rely on the US media who are realizing there is a problem over there. Assuming they aren't stuck on MSNBC or American Idol...
Here are some links from today:
The Economic Collapse (Source of photo above)
Zero Hedge: What Happens If Greek Payments Stop: Goldman's Thought Experiment On "The Day After"
Karl at Market-Ticker predicts this will eventually lead to Germany returning to the Mark, as they will realize all of Europe is relying on their economic strength to pull them through.
Also from Market-Ticker, 4 hours ago: FLASH: Greek Banks Cut Off?
Same story with more information from SF Chronicle, <1 hour ago: ECB Stops Lending to Some Greek Banks.
Is the prediction by Market-Ticker correct about this all happening this weekend? Easier to announce that "your money is gone" during off hours...
Maybe Romney can incorporate this into his campaign. Maybe he can make a convincing argument that spending more than you have leads to problems.
UPDATE 5.31: a commenter says the photo above is of the UK, yet we recall finding it in a Google search: Greece Bank Run". We can't verify its accuracy.

To put this in proletarian terms:
if this were to happen in the US, our Commie Obama hat
would be selling for $40 instead of the current $19.99.
The hat would likely lose 50% of its fun too...

Right now, America is going down the same path as Greece, Spain and Italy have gone. Eventually we will hit a wall and our financial system will fall apart.

Time to critical mass is now measured in days if not hours, and if acceleration occurs the weekend is the perfect time for Greek authorities to drop the hammer in the form of a bank holiday and capital controls as they will have no choice irrespective of the critical damage that will result from them doing so.
Same story with more information from SF Chronicle, <1 hour ago: ECB Stops Lending to Some Greek Banks.

Quote of the Day
From hat owner Ann Barnhardt:
Ask any Christian you know today if they are willing to declare and enjoin a tax strike against the government, and you will see that the state is feared completely, and that Fear of the Lord has been utterly purged from the ranks of the Church Militant.
An army that completely fears its enemy, and has no fear or respect for its own supreme commander or his orders will be defeated. Swiftly.

Reset
What is it with Liberals and their "resets"?
Lenin did a reset, called The New Economic Policy or NEP, back in 21 when his policies failed. NEP gave some rights back to the people - just enough to cause a pause in the rebellions outside Moscow. Those rebellions were later crushed and their participants executed.
Then Hillary brings a reset button to her meeting with the Russians. How'd that go? Didn't they recently threaten to bomb our anti-missile defense systems? The defense systems that are meant to save lives?
And now Obama has taken money from the productive class to help reset 200,000 home loans - reducing the principle by as much as $150,000 for each homeowner. The principle. Meaning, our Dear Leader has helped 200,000 voters pay down the debts that they sought.
Bank of America, recipient of TARP and thus beholden to our Dear Leader, has made this reset offer. Yahoo story.
No doubt this latest reset will be touted by theLiberals Progressives Communists in the MSM as a great and generous gift to those most in need.
Those 'homeowners' no longer can complain when the government stops by to check their smart meter, confiscate any food items not approved by the state, or to confirm all guns are unloaded and locked away.
One more checkmark on our Obama Checklist.
The only reset we want to see is each and every commie in the US government out on their asses after the November election.

Zombie was there for the May Day freak festival. He has two posts with lots of pictures. Here are the two photos that caught our eye:
From Zombie's Occupy Oakland May Day General Strike post:
And from his Decolonize Oakland May Day Occupy Rally post:
Something tells us if we were to decolonize Oakland on behalf of theseliberals progressives communists, the only items of interest would be the port and the businesses that are showing a profit.
And when the ships would stop and the profits disappear, their interest would be directed elsewhere. The Palo Alto venture capitalists, perhaps? Maybe anyone living in a house with 2 or more bedrooms.
Maybe everyone...

While We Were Gone
As a maker, it was good to go to the land of the takers.
And Ann Barnhardt reminds those ignorant of history what the rising unemployment rate leads to if commies are permitted to stay in power:
We spent last week in California to see how our tax dollars are being put to use. Unions, basically. Healthcare for foreign nationals without permission to enter the country too, but mostly unions.
We were offline for most of our visit, so we've done a quick sweep of our favorite blogs to catch up. Here are the highlights:
Apparently the "Yes we can" and "Hope & Change" propagandists have settled on a theme for 2012. And what a theme it is! "Forward" is a commie slogan. If someone saw this coming, they could have made a killing selling Commie Obama hats.... Lets hope this slogan doesn't work out as well as it did a century ago.
Here is the best response we've seen so far - from The People's Cube:
The Bard of Murdock has a nice poem:
Forward! to the looming cliff.
Forward! to collapse.
Forward! to dependency.
Forward! to relapse.
Forward! in the growing mire.
Forward! in the muck.
Forward! in the sediment.
Forward! ’til we’re stuck.
Forward! to the plebiscite.
Forward! to the vote.
Forward! to the ballot box.
Forward! quote, unquote.
An important Public Service Announcement - found at Moonbattery:
And Ann Barnhardt reminds those ignorant of history what the rising unemployment rate leads to if commies are permitted to stay in power:
The entire Obama regime propaganda on unemployment is driven by the fact that they keep REDUCING THE SIZE OF THE WORKFORCE. People can only collect unemployment benefits for 99 weeks. As soon as a person goes beyond 99 weeks, the Obama regime declares that person as NO LONGER IN THE WORKFORCE. There are people who have been unemployed for over two years who would work if they could find anything, but the rat bastards in the Obama regime and their propaganda arm, the media, just evaporate these people from existence, and they additionally reduce the size of the labor force arbitrarily, just so they can hit whatever predetermined number Valerie Jarret, David Axelrod, Timmy Geithner and Ben Bernanke decide it is going to be. This is what they are doing on every single unemployment report. It is all as fake as a Thai Rolex. Eventually, the Obama regime will go full-Marxist stupid, drop the labor force to 52 million and declare that Great Leader Obama has delivered a FULL EMPLOYMENT ECONOMY. And anyone who dares disagree will be shot in the back of the head with one of those 450 million rounds of .40 cal that the Obama regime just ordered.

Happy May Day!
Here is a picture from English Russia - Moscow, May 1, 1920.
You may recall, 1920 was a tough year.
Lenin was in his third year after taking office and the Tea Party was in full force.
Russians blamed Lenin's policies for their problems when it was really Tsar G. W. Bush's fault.
Some sailors offshore from St. Petersburg wrote negative comments in their Facebook accounts which led to a severe scolding by Trotsky.
20,000+ peasants SE of Moscow also frowned on the Lenin collectivization efforts and expressed themselves to local commissars in the most outspoken manner.
It took a whole lot of hope and change to restore order and achieve the Revolution's objectives, such as universal health care, shovel-ready projects, and a pot in every hut.
May 1st is our day to celebrate that hope and change.
