Romeo Y Julieta.
I finished J. L. Curtis' The Grey Man today. 2014, 357 pages. Here is my review.
The Grey Man is a book about a deputy sheriff in Texas, his relationship with his adult grand daughter, and his run-ins with criminals and the corrupt federal government. I recommend this book for anyone who likes to read about courage, integrity, and commitment to core family and American values.
The personalities and dialogue in The Grey Man reminded me of a Clancy book. Excellent character development, authentic emotional situations, and solid relationships - both personal and professional. The author spent a career in the US Navy and you'll hear that unique banter come through between the military and law enforcement characters.
If you want to feel like you're in this story, you'll want to pour yourself a hot cup of coffee. About half way through you'll want to confirm your zero - assuming you have a scoped rifle. And when you finish this book, you'll wish you had a Texas Ranger on speed-dial.
Overall, you'll find this book moves fast despite the few events that come quick and, no doubt like reality, are over in an instant. The one negative is the many editing misses. I've put down books with far less. If you're a stickler for this, you may want to pass.
The author is working on book #2.
This book has been added to the Ushanka Library list at the left.
