A hat owner in the People's Democratic Republic of Kalifornia has found a solution to the rash of Romney sign vandalism and theft.
The accompanying comments from our Comrade:
First, I inverted the sign, bent the wires at the top, punched holes throughout to reduce wind buffeting it around, then I bought fishing weights from a store in the harbor and attached them to the bottom. Then, I duct taped a shepherd's crook bird feeder hanger to our branch lopper, parked Beaulah under the tree, climbed into the bed and hoisted the sign on a branch about 22' up. It will take a bit of energy for the sign stealing weasel to get this one down. Heh heh.
UPDATED Noon:
The same patriotic Comrade has selflessly captured the revolutionary spirit and national consciousness with a new song:
Oh, say can you see? By the dawn's early light,
What so proudly I hung from the cypress tree's branches.
Whose blue stripes and lead weights through the perilous night,
Out our window I watched was so gallantly hanging?
And the libtards' mean glares, eff bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our sign was still there!
Oh, say does that Romney Ryan banner yet wave
O'er the 'hood full of libs and our home of the brave?

UPDATED and BUMPED 10.30.12 6:30am:
An update from our comrade out West.
Names removed to protect the three last conservatives in that state.
Something interesting happened tonight. After dinner, [comrade] and I went down to the Romney sign tree to fix my sign because the wind had been blowing and one of the hooks came off the branch.
My gay neighbor across the street was out on his balcony smoking and jokingly called out, "Hey what are ya doing with that sign?". I said I was fixing it and told him I was very close to hanging a big old Romney banner on their balcony while they were at work. This is what made my jaw drop: he said, "I actually wouldn't mind. I've already voted and I voted my conscience. You notice I don't have an Obama sign in our yard.". Exact words. You could have knocked me over with a feather.
He also said he took a photo of our sign up the tree and sent it to his sister as a sad commentary on how the first amendment is being trashed. He has expressed worry for my safety and is also scared for himself.
Also, [comrade] saw some guy stop his car and take a photograph of my sign earlier today when I was out doing errands. I wonder where that photo will end up. I think I started more than a sign war here. I think it has gotten more than a few people upset to see the lengths I have to go to keep a stupid sign from getting run over, violated or damaged.
