The Future of Education. If We're Lucky.

Fred On Everything

I like the way Fred thinks:
After Microsoft agreed to accept scores instead of degrees, the dam broke. The rest is history. Fourteen years later,  thousands of professors were on food stamps, along with diversity counselors, featherbedding administrators, and football staffs.

Democrats and War

When they are in power, more people suffer.  Always has been.  Always will be.

From 90 Miles:

Some background on the end of the Vietnam War.  Did you know the Democrats let down our allies which led to over one million murdered?

Net Neutrality

The FCC enacted Net Neutrality yesterday.  The Internet is now a public utility.  Congress had some questions, but the FCC Commission Chairman, Tom Wheeler, knew an ambush on our entire system was planned and wisely declined.

Things may be slow here at Ushanka for a while.

Despite rumors to the contrary, the FCC has released the new rules.  Our people are reviewing the new rules for future blogging now, and are anxious to comply.

One new rule: we must now open every post with:

"We celebrate our beloved [you may substitute: "dear"] leader of Oceania and the symbol of the Party."

We must direct two minutes of hate at EastAsia Eurasia for their recent sneak attack against our homeland.  I did this prior to submitting this post for approval.  I ask that you do so now.  Please look into your computer's camera when you unleash your hate for EastAsia Eurasia.  And... begin.

This nice portrait arrived with the new blogging rules.  I have carefully removed the protective packaging and have hung it in a prominent location within view of my computer's camera.  As recommended.

I look forward to a new Internet free from all the things that have plagued it in the past.

I condemn the new attempts by straight white males to build their own Internet in response to the dear leader's directive.  To them I say, "You already built one Internet.  And one is enough."

Some might say this is the end of free speech, but I suggest --REDACTED BY NEWSPEAK AGENT #433--.

Putin Gets Into the Act

Not to be upstaged by our Commie Obama Hat, Comrade Putin decided to mock our dear leader with a Hammer and Sickle of his own (GP):

Translation: To be personally delivered to Obama.

Touche, Comrade Putin.  Touche.

Lithuania Surrenders UPDATED and BUMPED

[orig pub 1.19.15]

Lithuania has acknowledged that history will indeed repeat itself.

Recent history (wiki):
1772-1795 - Annexed to Russia
1940 - Occupied by Soviet Union
1941 - Occupied by Nazi Germany

Lithuania is one of the three Baltic states that the Putin redistributionists have their eye on.  Like all tyrants who are incapable of creating wealth at home, Putin is anxious to expand his empire to acquire territory and wealth from others.  Think ObamaCare on a grander scale.

Lithuania's leaders see what is coming.  One just has to look at the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the impotence of the US to understand the new world order.

The Lithuanians published a pamphlet with instructions on what to do when the Russians come.

It might as well be a signed surrender.

The Moscow Times:  Lithuania's War Manual to Prepare Citizens for Russian Invasion
Lithuania is publishing a manual to advise its citizens on how to survive a war on its soil as the country's Defense Minister warn its Russian neighbor "is not friendly."

"Keep a sound mind, don't panic and don't lose clear thinking," the manual explains. "Gunshots just outside your window are not the end of the world."

The manual, which the Defense Ministry will send to libraries next week and also distribute at army events, says Lithuanians should resist foreign occupation with demonstrations and strikes, "or at least doing your job worse than usual."
I'll just leave these comments and suggestions here:
You can't stop the Russian army.  You can fight to the death.  You can make them pay for every inch of territory. You can put arms into the hands of every citizen. You have time to train.  You can do things today that will make Lithuania the less optimal target in the region for redistribution.  Hint: it is not printing a pamphlet.

Since we're talking about history repeating itself, let's remember that in the 60 days between the Soviets entering Berlin and the Allies, over one million rapes occurred in that WWII city of 1.5 million.  Lithuania has 3 million citizens.

Gunshots outside your window DO signal the end of the world.  If gunshots are not coming from your window, you are already a slave.  Or worse.

Lithuanians should not demonstrate, strike, or drag their feet at work.  They should apply the lessons from the Winter War in Finland, where the Soviets lost 10x the Finns and were eventually turned away.  Best told in Trotter's fantastic book, A Frozen HellMy book notes.

UPDATED and BUMPED 2.24.15:

Today's news: Lithuania to reinstate conscription amid Russia fears

So which is it?  Stay in your homes when the Russians are shooting in the streets?  Or defend your country?

If I were a Lithuanian citizen, I'd want to see a cost-benefit-analysis of what it would take to arm and train every willing and able citizen.  I'd start with a quality battle rifle, 10,000 rounds of ammunition, several days of marksmanship and small-unit training, and generous stockpiles of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines within communities.

What Happens In the USSR. . .

. . .Should stay in the USSR.

I met with a very high-level blogger from IOTW a few days ago.  A well placed hand grenade would have set the conservative (aka resistance) movement back by decades.  But luckily, liberals progressives communists throw like girls.  ATRS:

So the comrade and I finalized the plans for 2016 to get --redacted-- elected with only a 100 vote margin in the battleground state --redacted--, and we part ways.  I head towards the Mandalay Bay parking structure and am faced with this 25 foot remnant from Cold Wars gone by.

Here is a close up of the sign.  The statue stands next to a vodka bar called Red Square.

Look, I get it.  Communism is coming to the States.  Trust me, I know.  And the idea man behind this bar must be a smart fella, because he knows alcoholism quickly follows the establishment of a worker's paradise.  But can we take one step at a time?  We've barely started the civil unrest stage.

Am I asking too much?

Why I Like Obama

If it hadn't been for our pot-smoking, coke-snort'in, kobe beef-eating, communist-inspired, on-the-job-training president, I would not have the friends I have today.

I would have walked away from Ushanka years ago and enjoyed things like liberty, selecting a health care plan from within a competitive environment, bouncing from job to job until I found something challenging, and many other independent endeavors.

I had the honor to join comrade Aaron Clarey, the Captain of Capitalism, at his 40th birthday party in Vegas this past weekend. He had friends from before his blogging days, fellow bloggers and members of the manosphere there.  All fans of the Captain, aka "Cappy Caps."

The birthday boy, myself and Davis Aurini.

I'm just kidding.  I don't like Obama.

Black Tide Rising - A Zombie Series

The reason I've been scarce these past few months has been a four-book series called Black Tide Rising.  I've added this series to my Best Zombie Books post - always linked in the Library section to the left.

Under a Graveyard Sky is book #1 by John Ringo.  Here is his Amazon page.

Fun, Fun, Fun!

The pages will turn themselves and you will not be disappointed!  Imagine a family of four, including two teenage daughters - who were brought up right.  Imagine some suspicious occurrences and a heightened sense of survival.

Naked Zombies!  But they are still alive!

They chase lasers, just like kittens.

They screw.

And daughter #2, little Miss Faith, sets a new standard for killing Zombies.

The series has a nautical theme, as the family escapes to the Atlantic.  Then they find survivors.  Then they organize.  Then they start to rebuild human civilization.

An excellent series, and I don't think it ends at book #4.

Enjoy!

Book Review: The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty

Book Review: The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty, by Aaron Clarey.  195 pages.  February 2015.

Before I share my thoughts on Clarey's latest book, a few points.  First, this author who advises black men on their escape from poverty is white.  Midwest pasty white.  Minnesota white.  Second, he is a fellow cigar-smoking comrade.  We share a Midwest upbringing.  And more recently, we both participated in the 2008 banking disaster.  Where we differ: he comes from divorced parents, and is both wifeless and childless.
Q: So how come he thinks he can give career, family, parenting and education advice to black men?

A: Only those unfamiliar with his existing body of work would ask such a stupid question.  Or they have an agenda.

The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty is a natural extension of Clarey's last two books (listed in the Library to the left) and his work on YouTube.  He is a prolific advice giver.  And while there are exceptions to nearly all his recommendations, his advice is solid, based on both his experiences and observations, and supported by data when available.  Above all, it is selfless.

My first reaction to The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty was the absence of so much noise.  In other words, it is so focused the reader may subconsciously add examples or tangents.  I caught myself doing this, and in every case it was that pop-culture, political and media noise that has overwhelmed the advice industry.  If this happens to you, do not mistake it for author oversight.  Clarey's focus is his strength, and those who read this book will be better for it.

He opens the book with the problem.  Specifically, ghetto culture and the crabs-in-the-bucket environment that leads to so many wasted lives.  He tells his reader to face reality and provides the tools to catch the lies, the traps, and the hidden agendas. He describes the "self-fulfilling prophecy" of "immobilization, defeatism and debilitation."

I'd guess the author would call this an apolitical book, yet he links the challenges facing fatherless black men to Johnson's Great Society and to the entitlement and dependency policies of today's Democrat Party.  He doesn't preach.  He doesn't promote the Republican Party.  He doesn't bad-mouth the Democrat Party beyond linking them to this mess.  Maybe that'll be his next book...

He discusses Tribalism in Chapter 3.  This is a great chapter about the genetic impulse to be a member of a tribe.  The author suggests black men break away from this natural instinct, as the current "ghetto tribe" is a trap of "fatherless children determining the rules of the tribe."  He lists common traits for "Acting White" and "Acting Black," then asks the reader which set of traits they'd rather be associated with.  Chapter 3 is full of tough love, telling the reader the problem and how he can escape.  He even explains the different stages a black man will experience as he makes his escape.

One expected flaw of a white author dispensing advice to black men would be the author telling the reader what he would want.  No book on this subject would be complete without discussing Affirmative Action.  The white perspective, if I may, is that all job applicants should be treated equal.  I would guess Clarey would agree with this, but his role as the author of The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty is to advise black men.  He does discuss Affirmative Action and encourages the reader to take advantage of it.  As Clarey explains, "I'm recommending every LEGAL (not moral) way" to succeed.

Another expected shortcoming in a book like this would be some bland, equivocal noise disguised as advice.  You've read such garbage before, where you finish and wonder what the author really meant.  Well, not here.  If you haven't read Clarey's other books, beware of the author's opinions on women, education and parenting.  Not a single word is wasted in defining standards in these areas.  I do the wave when I read Clarey's expectations of parents, for example. He sets the highest standard.

I disagree with Clarey's advice to men to put a "stash" aside prior to marriage and in case of divorce.  If the reader follows the author's advice in selecting a future wife, it is my opinion then that there should be no reason to do anything dishonest.  No doubt this advice comes from his research, and no doubt it would have helped others.

The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty isn't for all black men.  It is written for the black man who has an open mind and cares deeply about living his life to its full potential.

I highly recommend The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty to all young men, regardless of race, who want to learn from other people's mistakes rather than make those mistakes themselves.

It Should Have Been Us

Rarely do we get an opportunity to see how far we've fallen.  The extent of the decline is breathtaking.

Look at where liberalism, political correctness and communist inspirations have taken the United States.

Today's Drudge is one such rare case.  If you are Jewish and want to live a safe and productive life, come to America Israel.

Roughly four generations ago it was a given that the United States would mobilize in the defense of a targeted group.

2016 Democrat Convention - What I Think

The Democrats announced their 2016 convention site this past week.  America's next Detroit, Philadephia, is the chosen city.  Why?

Rush Limbaugh made a good point:
[It] doesn't make any sense.  You have the Declaration of Independence, you got the Constitution written in Philadelphia.  Why in the world would the Democrats want to go there?
But he also suggested real-estate investors could take advantage of the clean-up and preparations.  As if a gathering of Democrats - unlikely to keep the White House - will proceed without chaos.

While I recognize Rush as a master in this realm, my gut says he's wrong.

I'd suggest those real-estate investors keep their property insurance paid in full.  Or sell.  Now.

I think the city was selected as the next step in the Democrat's Crisis-as-a-Means, Class and Race War strategies.

I think the Democrats want a repeat of the 1968 Democrat Convention riots.   It isn't like they have a record to run on.

Here is my thinking:

OCCUPY was a test-run of the later Ferguson uprisings.  Like Hitler did in Germany, the Democrats are seeking out motivated leaders at the street level.  Some call these "community organizers."  It was a brilliant method to find the most hateful and the most envious among the German underclass, and a key reason the National Socialists rose to power so fast.  (Remember, Hitler was elected on both class and race warfare themes, unlike his International Socialist counterparts in Russia who took power and stuck mostly with class warfare.)  Some leaders emerged from OCCUPY.  They oversaw the rapes, the tent cities and the pooping on police cars.

Next, Ferguson.  Ferguson was a larger test run in preparation for the Democrat Convention.  More sites, more proven leaders, and probably more levels of management.  Like the Nazis, Ferguson's civil disobedience was fueled by both class and racial animosity.

I think the selection of Philadelphia is ideal if the Democrat Party wants a repeat of the 1968 convention in Chicago.  Tons of disenfranchised Obama voters who are now angry because the redistribution promised was far from the redistribution achieved.  (Implementation of Marx never delivers the intentions of Marx.)  Yes, many middle class Americans were harmed by Obama, and many damaging policies were put in place to further cause harm to the greatest country in the history of man.  But "been there, done that, got my ObamaPhone" isn't much of a slogan after two presidential terms.  These people have a choice:  Either 1) admit their votes were wrong, the Democrats will never help them and their Party is bankrupt of ideas.  Or 2) get angry.

I think the spark for the Philadelphia riots next year will be the 1985 police bombing of the Black Liberation movement, MOVE

On May 13th 1985, the Philadelphia Police Department tried to evict MOVE.  There were MOVE members who had warrants for arrest, and the eviction order was justified by the health and noise violations.  (MOVE members piled their human waste in their yard...)

In a scene similar to the ATF's assault on the Branch Davidians 8 years later, the police first ignited the MOVE residence, then stood by as 65 structures burned to the ground.  Eleven MOVE members were killed including the leader and five children.

The 30 year anniversary of that stupid police action is this May.  Nine MOVE leaders are in jail serving lifetime sentences for murdering police officer James J. Ramp in 1978.  Obama could dangle presidential pardons for them in exchange for more enthusiasm from his inner-city supporters.

The Democrats may have succeeded in their drive for civil unrest these past years.  But they have failed to spark a reaction from the police or the public that would rally the masses in more violence.

I know Obama shares a Black Liberation background, having attended Rev. Wright's Black Liberation church for 20 years.

I know Philadelphia is another Democrat city on the verge of collapse.

I know Pennsylvania has a corrupt Democrat Attorney General.  More at: Ushanka, and PennLive.

I know the Philadelphia Democrats understand the power of intimidation.

What am I missing?

I hope the police make protecting Independence Hall a priority next summer.

Hillary and Sickle

I meant Hammer and Sickle.

Comrade Zoomie posted a couple bumper sticker concepts at his site.

The funny thing:  Hillary isn't the Democrat favorite in 2016.  She doesn't embrace the Hammer and Sickle as much as that commie-inspired squaw from Massachusetts.  And if that doesn't send a very clear message, ask yourself why the Democrat VP isn't even a consideration.

The Democrats will show their commie cards from now until about August next year.  Then they go conservative and pout when called "liberals."

Dating Advice for LIbertarians

I was going to skip this until I read the first line in the description:
In this video, I will teach you how to find your libertarian soul mate. Together, you will have beautiful Ron Paul babies and move to Somalia where you will live happily ever after without the state or roads.
Funny stuff.

I hope Libertarians will follow this advice so they'll get laid more, and tell me "both parties suck" less.

That would be a win-win.

In Ohio Today

So I'm sitting in my favorite breakfast joint this morning and they have a local radio station on in the background.  The news hour hits and the female broadcaster, in very somber tones, announces "THE REPUBLICANS" in the Ohio legislature will be the first in the country to vote on an abortion restriction.

On what, does she weep?
Banning abortions based on Down Syndrome diagnosis.

And why does she weep?
Because a down syndrome abortion carries more bragging rights.

That's right.  Abort a healthy baby, and you must whisper the news to like-minded Obama voters.  They will understand and share your minimum requirements for privacy.

But carve up a baby diagnosed with a disease, and you can brag in polite company.  The social stigma is less, and you have a better chance of finding allies nearby if someone suggests you chose poorly and an argument ensues.

Remember:
The Ushanka Maxim:  The Liberals Progressives Communists cannot take over until they sufficiently dilute both traditional family values and religious values.

"Pro-Choice" does both.

Let me be clear.  This post isn't about passing judgement.  I don't use Ushanka for that purpose.  I try to steer clear of the personal.

But I will argue to my last breath that those who fall in the pro-choice camp are pawns in the communist conspiracy here in the United States.  To those I say, "Pay attention to who you benefit when you choose a lower standard."

In other words, this post is political.  Not personal.
