Kudos to ReasonTV for this video. From yesterday's Save Our Schools rally outside the White House.
It is a tough 6 minutes to watch the liberalsprogressives communists in the US Public School system explain why we need to continue education policies and spending that have resulted in ever-lower standards and performance.
This video reminds us of a 60 Minutes segment on welfare recipients back in the late 80s. It was a window into a major Democrat area that showed the absurdity of the liberal argument.
A person who leans Democrat may not be disgusted by these people. A person who leans Democrat, and who is out of work, may have a different take.
A man of unquestionable honor and integrity said in October 2000:
I believe accountability encourages parental involvement. We need to say to people that if you cannot meet standards, there has to be a consequence, instead of the soft bigotry of low expectations. One of the consequences is we allow parents to have choices.
Since George W. Bush uttered those words, we've allowed our educators to retain their low standards for 11 more years. How many years of this failure is too much? Where do you draw the line?
There have been some news reports re: Fast and Furious that one of the recipient groups of the 2000+ high-powered weapons allowed by the ATF to go South of the border was the Los Zetas Cartel. This is a group that assassinates mayors and other government officials and is rumored to want to overthrow the Mexican government.
As we've commented before, the efficiency of evil-minded people to destabilize individual freedom and liberty is breathtaking. Ask these ATF agents to do their actual jobs, and you'll get a flood of complaints and foot-dragging: "we don't have the resources", "our mandate is not clear", "but when do we get to burn the children alive?", "but can't we shoot an unarmed mother in the head instead, then promote everyone involved?", etc. But ask them to allow criminals to buy military=style weapons in bulk and it's on!
It was similar in Cambodia. Full city-wide evacuations take weeks when disasters strike. But in an Communist takeover, Pol-Pot was able to clear full cities in a matter of 2 days in what could be called the mother of all redistributions.
What do we do with all these people? Stack their skulls.
The early Fast and Furious stories revolved around drug traffickers, border violence, and two dead US agents. Then we learned weapons were also destined for the communists in Honduras per the US State Department. (If you recall, Honduras legally exiled their president when he turned commie.) And now we hear about the Los Zetas.
Ann Barnhardt considers the intended consequences of this:
The Obama regime wants to effectively dissolve the U.S.-Mexican border. A Los Zetas overthrow would accomplish this. Mexican refugees would flood into the United States. The U.S. would refuse to acknowledge the Los Zetas regime as a legitimate government. The U.N. and other illegitimate criminal syndicates operating as diplomatic fronts would immediately call for the U.S. to accept all Mexican refugees. Because the Mexican government would no longer be legitimate – and essentially would not exist – there would be no way to deport ANY Mexican nationals inside the U.S., because there would be no government in Mexico to hand them back to lawfully. --- Soros, and all Marxist-Communist tyrants, are big fans of drugs because drugs keep the rabble (that’s us) dumb, compliant, desperate and dependant on the state. Soros, Jarrett, Obama, Ayers, Sunstein, Piven and all the rest would love nothing more than for the entire American populace to come home every night from a long day at the welfare office, bread line, and drug dispensary, smoke a joint or a blunt, plop down on the sofa and sit transfixed by pornography, circuses and/or state propaganda. This is how the Soviet Union operated except with alcohol. There may not have been food or toilet paper at times in the Soviet Union, but MIRACULOUSLY the vodka would always manage to appear. This basically eliminated the threat of the male populace to the state. It also acted as a silent genocide by causing dramatic increases in early death AND dramatically decreased fertility rates when coupled with state-provided abortion-on-demand. In case you weren’t aware, Russia’s population today is imploding.
Let us add: drugs further help the liberalsprogressives communists dilute any remaining traditional family and religious values in society. They cannot rule with these intact.
Give this some thought: 2 of the 4500+ ATF agents have come forward as whistleblowers. 0.04%.
Canton Ohio Police Officer Daniel Harless is on administrative leave after this video of his June 8 encounter with an Ohio concealed weapon permit holder.
As in our earlier posts, we're withholding our comments. There seems to be a recurring theme, but we just can't put our finger on it. Until we figure it out, we defer to Ann Barnhardt's comments.
Here are 4 of her 7 points:
4. People like this are exactly the type that become brutal enforcers under Marxism. Understand that the politics really wouldn't have anything to do with it. I doubt very seriously that this guy has ever in his life compared and contrasted political systems, or given the least bit of thought to it. If the Obama regime offered this guy free license to beat the crap out of people, and even kill people under the guise of "policing", he would jump at it. It wouldn't matter to him what the regime's politics were - all that would matter to him would be the sanctioned brutality that he could engage in, coupled with the paycheck. It is violence for violence's sake with jerks like this.
5. History clearly shows us that Marxists have NO PROBLEM whatsoever recruiting brutes. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot - these men didn't murder over 100 million people with their own hands. They had ARMIES of "state police" do it for them, and they never were in want of people who were willing to brutalize and slaughter their neighbors. It also bears mentioning that most law enforcement officers in this country are unionized, and thus are already sympathetic to the Marxist grievance-mongers.
6. People think that a Marxist police state could never happen here because "Americans just aren't like that." Baloney. Watch the video above over and over again until you understand. Obama's Gestapo is here, walking among us. All they need is the go-ahead to start terrorizing people, and this cop is the perfect example of that.
7. Obviously, there are good, intelligent, morally upright cops, too. But, history has repeatedly shown that when Marxists unleash their tyranny, those good men either have to flee or are purged.
Good to see this CCW in Canton didn't suffer the same fate as CCW Erik Scott in Las Vegas.
Gunblogger and fellow Ohio gun-nut Breda posted this audio of Canton City Council President Allen Shulman.
Our conclusions:
1) Allen Shulman and officer Daniel Harless share the same contempt for citizens who obey the law.
2) Allen Shulman and officer Daniel Harless would prefer an un-armed citizenry.
3) Allen Shulman and officer Daniel Harless have no interest in pursuing drug offenders, prostitutes or other criminals in Canton Ohio, but will go to any lengths to disarm and/or harass concealed carry permit holders.
We're still unsure what this all means. We've sent the video to Ann for any clarity she can offer.
Until Ann replies or posts her opinion, Blog Lost and Found is commenting:
Rather than stand up, acknowledge, and condemn the outrageous behavior of one of your town's officers, you've chosen to circle the wagons and attempt to divert attention away from Officer Harless by whining and complaining about the very people with whom you should be agreeing.
Shulman grabbed the attention of Ohioians for Concealed Carry group with his remarks. They are now demanding his resignation along with officer Harless.
“Over the past several days, the behavior of Harless has been roundly condemned by civil rights leaders, attorneys, law enforcement officers and administrators, law professors, news commentators and ordinary citizens across the country; Schulman, too, has been frequently named,” Ohioans for Concealed Carry said in a statement on its website.
“We are dismayed that city of Canton leaders have not responded to this crisis with the urgency it demands, and that organizations like ours have to call for decisions to be made.”
It is the first time in the group’s 12-year history it has called for the resignation of a public official, said Philip Mulivor, a coordinator for Ohioans for Concealed Carry.
What does a Canton attorney do if he is shamed out of that city? Are there smaller towns to flee to?
The debt-limit talks continue in Washington, but Speaker Boehner has so far held his ground on no new taxes. Good.
No to a new debt-limit and yes to a balanced budget amendment are also being pushed despite the media framing the choice as "default on our debt, or raise the limit."
Several Ohio and Kentucky Tea Party groups rallied at Speaker Boehner's office in Ohio today to support his efforts to save the country from a communist hell. Or as Reagan would say: "A thousand years of darkness."
It was a rowdy group of right wing extremism. Grandmas and Grampas, Moms and Dads, and a couple children. Each arrived with a personal letter to the Speaker which was then handed to a gentleman from the Speaker's office. Letters were collected for those who could not attend and handed over in a binder. 350 letters!
This was a once-in-a-lifetime event. When do constituents spontaneously gather to praise the actions of a congressman???
Here are the pictures of the attendees and their racist, homophobe, and swastica signs American flags:
A hearty Ushanka Tip goes out to Dave Blout at Moonbattery who says this about the debt-limit talks:
If no one stops Obama et al, they will keep spending and monetizing until our money is worthless, at which point default will go without saying.
Obama’s insane spending spree may already have exceeded the country’s crippled economic capabilities. If he were yanked from office tomorrow — and run out of Washington on a rail, covered in the tar and feathers he so richly deserves — your grandchildren might not live long enough to pay the debts he’s accumulated with wasteful spending in only two and half years. The only way we can possibly pay our debts is if we stop spending more than we have. Even Tom Harkin is intelligent enough to understand this.
If Michele Bachmann wouldn’t raise the debt limit no matter what, this is the equivalent of a bartender saying he wouldn’t give a customer another double martini no matter what, as the customer lies comatose on the floor, nearly dead of alcohol poisoning.
Poetic. Click over to Moonbattery for more, plus a related video.
Kudos to Boehner and House GOP for heeding the Tea Partiers' call. Obama's fellow liberalsprogressives communists in the MSM may be framing this as 'do we raise the limit or default', but there are other options. One is to reduce the debt limit, pass a balanced budget amendment and fair tax, and avoid a default by radically restructuring entitlements.
Today's tribute post goes to Neil Cavuto. We found this video at Weasel Zippers. This is Neil's response to fellow Fox News guy Bill O'Reilly who this past week called the tea party "fanatical" and argued that the tea party should not be taken seriously. The feeling, of course, is mutual.
Neil is a great communicator who simplifies problems and presents his ideas in a manner that only the most rabid liberalsprogressives communists would disagree with. This video is an example of his consistency and passion.
That is the title of today's email from our Dear Leader's commissar and Campaign Manager, Jim Messina.
No text was removed. Our additions are in italic. Do they fit the context?
Karl --
This morning, a group of public servants showed up to work at a brand-new agency created to protect everyday Americans from the abuses of Wall Street.
They're the folks of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or NKVD for short, and they'll be the cops on the beat protecting consumers from predatory credit card and mortgage lenders, bourgeois bait-and-switch creditors, Kulaks, and anyone trying to make a quick buck by deceiving or manipulating Americans who are just trying to secure their financial future.
Many Americans don't know it, but this bureau is just one part of a sweeping Wall Street reform law -- the most pro-consumer and pro-taxpayer reform of our financial system since the Great Depression -- that President Obama signed a year ago today.
Watch this video to get a quick overview of the law, and a briefing on the internal enemies, saboteurs, and special interests trying to undermine it:
Whether you watch the video or not, Comrade, please share this email with someone. If that person refuses to watch it, please let us know at flag@whitehouse.gov.
It's important that everyone knows what this law means for all of us. Simpler mortgages. Clearer credit card rates, fees, and rules. Fairer loan terms. Shared wealth. It's based on the simple idea that if you make sure that people get clear information, they'll make the financial decisions that work best for them.
And we can all rest a little easier knowing that our common and collective financial future is more protected from the irresponsibility of a few corrupt plutocrats. This law made structural reforms to ensure that the financial crisis we experienced in 2008 never happens again and that taxpayers aren't on the hook to pay for Wall Street's risky bets.
It's up to you to make sure more people know about this. Most Americans went to public school and don't have all the details on how this law is working for them, and it's our job to change that and re-educate them.
Amazingly, each and every Presidential candidate on the other side opposes this law.
And the same opposition that tried to block it more than a year ago is still alive and well despite our efforts.
Right now, lobbyists are at work trying to weaken the tough regulations this law imposes. We are so close to our Utopian dreams to let them take this away from us!
That's no accident -- its provisions are designed to rein in the Wall Street, credit card, and mortgage banking interests these private jet flying people represent.
As we know, Comrades, there aren't a whole lot of high-powered lobbyists in Washington looking out for the common good of everyday families.
That's exactly why this law is necessary, and why our growing organization in all 50 states is so important. It's up to us to make sure our friends and neighbors are forced to know about it. Watch our video about Wall Street reform today -- and then pass it on:
Jim Messina Commissar Campaign Manager Obama for America
"Amazingly, each and every Presidential candidate on the other side opposes this law." Yet no explanation as to why. It appears from Jim's email that this law was rammed through congress much like Obamacare, with few if any Republican supporters. You'd think those dastardly Republicans would have a claim or two that Jim could present and discredit.
Also, look at the last paragraph. The message goes from the vacuous discussion of a law to the community organizer audience of the email. So the law isn't enough? You envy-driven panty-waste thumb-sucking liberals needs to get out of your Moms' basements and out from behind the barrista bar and go intimidate your neighbors! Really? This is going to happen? Jim is going to tell you nothing about a law that is a year old, then tell you to go find a conservative (we suggest an office building) to whine about how the law is not popular and how that conservative should change their position based on your level of whining and foot-stomping? Really?
As we made our way through today's WSJ, we came across the opinion article title, Dodd-Frank Has Made Our Banks Stronger. (The title of the online version: Geithner: A Dodd-Frank Retreat Deserves a Veto).
This is definitely not something we expect to see in the Journal, so we go next to the by line. Timothy Geithner. Oh, ok.
Our first thought: Buy gold. Today.
Our second thought: Time for a new post at Ushanka.us.
The president did not want the new rules [Dodd-Frank Reform] to end up being written by those who brought us to the edge of catastrophic financial failure.
Yet that is exactly who did write it. It was Dodd-Frank who forced Fannie Mae and other GSE's to guarantee bad (subprime) loans that then led to endless taxpayer bailouts.
By almost any measure, the U.S. financial system is in much stronger shape, not just relative to the depth of the crisis but also relative to conditions that prevailed before it hit.
Tell that to the unemployed who are seeing an end to their 99-week benefits and are unable to find a job.
All financial crises are caused by too much leverage, and by reducing leverage, we have taken the most important step toward diminishing the risk of future crises. We have forced the largest financial institutions to take less risk and to hold much stronger financial cushions against the commitments they make.
In other words, the US government have taken control of private enterprises and restricted their ability to maximize profits for their shareholders. That includes hiring people to staff a new market opportunity or improve efficiencies. Watch for higher bank fees as the banks turn on their customers to make up the difference. Why? Because in the end, the shareholder always comes first.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has already proposed new ways to simplify disclosure of mortgage and credit-card loans so that consumers can shop for the best terms and be protected from abusive and predatory practices.
Ever heard of Yahoo? I can go there and in 3 minutes find the best mortgage rate available in my area. This isn't groundbreaking - Yahoo in fact is dying a slow death as these innovations are so two-decades ago. Yet our Treasury Secretary brags as if this is the latest thing much like Stalin bragged of his White Sea Canal - a worthless canal so shallow only siteseeing boats could use it.
Anybody else suffer from involuntary eye-rolling when someone who's made a living of taking from others claims credit for producing something?
We are implementing reform quickly but carefully, and we are taking public input at each step of the way.
Input on another force-fed bill which had only 6 Republicans votes? Really? Is his door open to all? Is he willing to consider all options?
Liberals publishing in the WSJ are similar to liberals who hang out around conservatives. They have zero earned credibility, so they play their only card: osmosis.
For a fly-over state, Ohio generates a lot of attention in the areas of politics, taxes, and innovative policies. We've lived in the state for the past three years and find this a state that has turned the corner. Assuming the 'change' continues here, Ohio will be the model that many other depressed states will follow.
John Kasich is our governor. He earned a write-up in the WSJ Opinion page two weeks ago - The Buckeye Budget Lesson:
Mr. Kasich took office this year facing the largest deficit in Ohio history, close to $7.7 billion. His predecessor, Democrat Ted Strickland, had avoided any serious reform in advance of the 2010 election, despite a shrinking economy and tax base, and had concealed fiscal holes with federal stimulus dollars that have now run out. To close the gap with revenue alone, the Ohio tax department estimated that income rates for the average family would need to rise 56%.
Mr. Kasich's budget is bringing Ohio's finances into balance by cutting spending while also cutting taxes, which ought to be a lesson for Washington.
The opinion piece had a paragraph on Medicaid:
A particular achievement is reforming Medicaid, which covers one of seven Ohioans and makes up nearly a third of state spending. The stimulus and ObamaCare imposed severe "maintenance of effort" mandates on states that make the program far less flexible, but Mr. Kasich's plan will slow the program's projected 8% spending growth to 4%, well below the national average. Major savings come from redirecting subsidies to community-based care from the nursing home industry, which is politically powerful in Columbus.
We wonder if Gov. Kasich has seen today's release of James O'Keefe's latest undercover video of Ohio's Medicaid offices. If so, we think he may find some more areas to cut and maybe reduce the state's medicaid funding. From Daily Caller:
Gov. Kasich has done an excellent job in very little time. He has set a precedent in responsible leadership and we therefore expect him to respond immediately and forcefully to today's scandal. Support for drug dealing, illegal immigration, prostitution, and tax-payer theft in Ohio Medicaid offices is wrong. The Governor not only has a duty to respond, he has an opportunity to reverse this cultural rot and set a standard in a very public way.
We'll update this post with developments.
Another hearty U/T to O'Keefe and crew.
UPDATE 7.19
OMG! Thankfully not Ohio. Wounded Irish Republican Army soldiers need medical care in South and North Carolina.
There's a form for that!
O'Keefe's ability to improve on each hit piece is standard-setting.
We have an idea, although it may come across as harsh.
How about every state and local government, and the federal government too, FIRE every employee who sympathize with:
Terrorism, Prostitution, including child prostitution, Illegal Immigration, Drug Smuggling and Dealing.
Question: What were the most common four words uttered by political prisoners in the Soviet gulag?
The millions of prisoners in the Gulag firmly believed that Stalin had no idea they had been imprisoned, and had no idea that they were dying by the hundreds in the labor camps. Read any of the books on the subject and one hope is consistent among these prisoners: a mass amnesty of all prisoners was just days away. Just as soon as someone told Stalin.
Well, it took a little longer. Remember, communists lie, cheat, steal, agitate, and tolerate embrace others who do as well. Not too much different from America's liberals/progressives, as we've shown in our nearly 5 years here.
So we flip this concept when analyzing the ATF Gunrunner/Gunwalker/Gungiveaway operation: "Obama knew".
We can't prove this, but there are others working hard to bring the truth to light. In other words, it may be proven soon.
Two weeks ago we were convinced it was ATF Director Melman. Until he showed up with his private attorney over the 4th of July weekend.
So then a week ago all evidence pointed to Eric Holder, with the FBI director's and the DEA's involvement.
After watching this video [below], the reasons behind Ogden’s resignation [Dec 3, 2009] after working for Attorney General Eric Holder for less than a year, appear seem clear: He wanted to reduce his chances of becoming the “fall guy” for the Obama Administration after news of this doomed-from-the-start gun-running operation became public. Nineteen months later, the “cat” that is Project Gunrunner is out of the proverbial bag.
This theory is the smoke, and we hope Issa continues to push forward to find the fire.
Bob's post links to a WSJ article about Ogden's resignation. Here is the link, however it did not work for us. Nor were we able to find it in a WSJ search. Bob makes the point that Ogden did not have any projects to his name at the time of his resignation, which is odd. But we see in the video that Gunrunner was one of 3 initiatives he mentions in his speech.
Some deep thinkers who have less partisan impulses than us have started suggesting that logic points to only one reason for this operation: to support future gun-control initiatives due to the 'unexpected' increase in violence. In other words, there are respected intellectuals who have considered all possible motivations for Operation Gungiveaway, and have concluded the sole objective was to increase the Mexican Drug War wounded and killed. We point to John Lott as one example.
...by 2019 the annual revenue increase is nearly $90 billion, or $900 billion in the 10 years after that. Yet Mr. Obama wants to add another $1 trillion in new taxes on top of this. --- We think this was the President's spend-and-tax plan from the very first. Run up spending and debt in the name of stimulus and health-care reform, then count on Wall Street bond holders and the political establishment to browbeat Republicans into paying for it all. He apparently didn't figure on the rise of the tea party, or 1.9% GDP growth and 9.2% unemployment two years after the recession ended.
The editorial lists 7 of Obama's tax increases that have already passed through Congress (yes, Pelosi's Congress). They include:
1) 0.9% -a nearly triple increase on medicare for singles to 2.9%, 2) Then applies that medicare 2.9% to investment income, 3) 2.3% import tax on medical devices starting in 2013, 4) An annual fee on drug makers and importers, 5) Allowing medical deductions from 7.5% to 10%, 6) a 40% tax on private insurance policies starting in 2018, 7) an annual fee on healthcare insurance companies in 2014.
So which of these new taxes will be passed onto citizens? 3, 4, 6 and 7.
1, 2 and 5 are not "passed on" because they go directly to the citizens.
Kudos to Rep. Boehner and GOP'ers. Everytime they say "no", they represent me and my fellow tea-partying patriots.
The most powerful graph of the Obama Administration has been updated with 2011 projections. Is there any surprise?
Are there any liberals who bleated about Bush's deficits willing to admit their ideology, their party, and their 2008 nominee are all total failures and are destructive to this nation?
Nah, didn't thinks so. I suppose they'd say we wouldn't have these red lines if the Republicans didn't play games with the debt limit....
From The Blaze (incl. video), Sarah Palin had this to say about Chris Christie in New Jersey:
With all due respect to Governor Christie, you know he has no choice but to cut budgets because he’s broke, his state is broke. What courage really is, is in the face of having a surplus when you have opportunity to spend spend spend the people’s money, you still choose to reign in government to let the private sector soar. That’s real courage, and by the way that’s what I did as Governor here when I engaged in hiring freezes and reduced earmarks by 86% and vetoed the largest amounts in our state’s history. Despite having a surplus that’s real leadership and that’s courage.
Today, all cell phones resemble the iPhone, but the iPhone is hands-down the standard.
Likewise, we'll be presented with a bunch of Republicans in 2012 that sound just like Palin. Many will be fooled by the marketing, as many today buy non-Apple cell phones.
Not this Comrade.
We have taken note that Sarah Palin has not only been out front on every important issue, but has taken the absolute best position of every issue too. She is defining the debate for 2012. She is focus-testing this message for the other Republicans, and taking all the risk in doing so. That is leadership.
Will we find issues where we prefer Bolton, or Bachman, or West more appealing? Probably. Will Sarah Palin disappoint us on some future issue? No doubt.
But we will remember that she led. Will you?
And we will set the bar higher for those who follow. Will you join us?
Not completely fair to blame Obama for the moth-balling of our manned space program. The end was forecasted in the Clinton years, and Clinton nor Bush made any effort to invest past the aging shuttle.
But it is a fact that this ended on Obama's watch, much like a robust private sector or parent confidence that their children will have more opportunities for success than they did.
The man, and his DNC party and MSM mouthpieces, must be remembered for what they did to the US. We'll continue to do our part to record today for tomorrow's reference.
